E7 or Cs61A?

Hello. I am going to be a freshman in the fall ion Mechanical Engineering. I currently am deciding my schedule, and am in a dilemma. So I am sure that I don't want to pursue MechE and have narrowed it down to IEOR or EECS. I know I will have to change majors so is E7 required for the IEOR major, or can CS61A replace that. Is it possible to do both majors, or is it suicidal? What would you guys recommend?

both majors would be extremely difficult. you’d probably need to skip out of a TON of classes and even then take 5 courses a semester for many semesters and/or take a 9th semester.

If you want to keep your options open for EECS, take CS61A. According to this link http://www.ieor.berkeley.edu/AcademicPrograms/Ugrad/curriculum-new.htm</a> E7 cannot be replaced by CS61A, but you MIGHT be able to petition to have it count if you do decide to go the IEOR route. For BioE they let you choose one of the two courses - but I am not an official IEOR major and have no experience with petitioning, so there is no guarantee. Hopefully an IEOR major can comment, or you can try emailing an IEOR staff adviser.

It’s definitely doable to do both majors, but you might have to sacrifice your summers. I recommend you take 61a for the reasons rofflez stated.
