Hey, Guys i have been reading on this site for couple of months but i have just registered now; i noticed that u guys in the states have an average scoring very high than we do have here in Egypt .

I am a grade 11 student, I took the SAT 3 Times until now, November,December and May.

Scored 1020, 1110 ,1210

I am Taking the June Test and i beileve to get a 40-80 Increase Or Maybe a 100 if it comes easy .

My Scores are 340 Reading, 490 Math, 380 Writing

In May and June i am not studying English at all, Only Math and as a result i increased from 420 in december to 490 in may; and i am willing to get my highest score in math in next November Max.

I am willing to study Some English in Summer Then After I Get what i want in math i will take every test next year and will be studying English Only. cause i will choose the best scores from every test .

The 1210 i got can get me in most of Private Universities in Here; But my Dream is to Study Business In The AUC; And It Requires at Least 1450 Score.

BTW My Essay Scores are between 6-7

So Could u Guys Help Me With a Plan For Summer To Reach The 1500 . :)

have you already tried the books of Barron and Princeton? at least they are pretty helpful in the writing correction part.

for essay, you could look for examples and suggestion in this BBS.,
Remember to practice more and follow the structure!

also, the vocabulary was SIGNIFICANT in your reading section, i guess you didn’t memorize the Barron 3500 before taking the test…i am not native, either and i found great gap in my mark before and after studying the voc.

bs…i actually have no idea for your study plan of math section…i am Chinese…maybe do more practice in OG and OC might help
:-D

ehhhh…for me, i think you would better do OG for more times.
since the biggest problem now you are facing is not “learning english” but “passing the test”…
1500 won’t be that hard when you are sure that you have gotten all the questions in OG.

the official guide for sat
though it may be somehow hard at first,
you will gradually get the way of taking sat test.
btw, if you can look at the tips for sentence correction, your mark would go high in a really short time; that is the easiest part of this test( for us is the math…:-D)
good luck!

I find it odd that you scored a 490 in math, when the math curriculum in Egypt is so much more advanced than in the U.S. I think your main problem would be the lack of English skills. If you improve your English, your math score will also increase.

My dad went to school in Egypt, and he said that the standard was Algebra 2 in 8th grade, then in 9th grade you cover geometry and Pre-Calc in the same year. Calc 1 in 10th grade and so on.

If you are following this same curriculum you should definitely be ahead of the game when it comes to SAT math, but like I said, it’s probably an English related difficulty.

额…the official guide dose contain some, but sincerely, as a non-native speaker, those tips will not help that much.

is there any bbs or schools like Barron, Princeton in your country that do with SAT? In china we have new oriental… i think the grammar explanations in your own language would definitely be more helpful than those in english… you know, we may focus on different points.

also, i highly suggested you to look at the tips in THIS BBS RIGHT before taking the exam, since natives always know SAT more than we do…

I Took Algebra 1 in Grade 9 and Geometry In Grade 10 and Now I take Algebra II and Next Year Pre Calculus

I Think the Problem is i didn’t know What SAT meant Last August, Cause i am in the American system from Last year Only and didn’t have any image about sat .

Yes, buy it. You will need it. It’s the big blue book that says SAT in white letters.

Also, as an Egyptian resident, the University of Alexandria is open to you with free tuition, am I correct? Also I think its reputability is pretty much equal to AUC, no?
