Does anyone know how many ppl applied EA this year and how many got accepted, etc?

Thanks

Based on what I remember based on reading U Chicago's Uncommon Blog (I could be wrong), 25% were accepted, 50% were deferred, and 25% were rejected. They said that the deferral rates were double than last year's b/c they were concerned about how many people would apply RD (they expect record RD numbers) and what quality of applicants they would get. Remember that more people are applying to Chicago, but their applicants are becoming much more competitive than in recent years, and Chicago is very self-selective thanks to their essay questions and academic reputation.

It's been estimated that they'll accept about 15%-25% of the deferred people. That means about 350-400 out of the 1,900 deferred.

It's nice to know I"m one of the masses ... but at least I still have a chance I guess.

I hope that this info helps!

I think it's more like 1/3 accepted, 1/6 rejected, 1/2 deferred. About 3,800 applications, 1,250 acceptances, and you can do the rest of the math.

With EA applications down about 15%, and acceptances down about 10%, that means that the EA acceptance rate actually went up a little bit this year.

so, are they expecting more or fewer RD applications this year? ab2013 says more, but if there were fewer EA applications wouldn't you assume that there would be fewer RD apps as well?

They are expecting more RD apps.
