EA Acceptances

I received mine today! Has anyone else received theirs? I am accepted in the Business Schoo. I didn't know I applied for that school. LOL. I thought I just selected Business as intended major. Oh well, I don't mind...

I got into the business school and they gave me a 50% scholarship

Congrats on admissions

I got in the School of Engineering for biomed. I got in on Dec. 14th.

I got in for a pre-dentistry major a while ago w/ half scholarship too. Congrats all!!!

Hmm...Where does it say if you got a scholarship or not?? I live in VA, so maybe I didn't get one. Any help is appreciated.

LOL...I didn't mean that it's because I live in VA that I didn't get a scholarship.

Ashleybeans, do you mind sharing how you became an orthodontal assistant? Do you work at an orthodontist's front desk, or are you helping with the patients. I am quite amazed, and you should be proud, that you were able to secure such a position that surely helped you get into UConn's predental program.
Congratulations.

My son finally got his EA acceptance letter today!!!!!! But no mention of Honors program or merit money (he should at least be getting some from Engineering Dept). Are they separate letters?

nope same letter, i didnt get into honors program or get a scholarship and i also applied for biomed. eng.

Yeah, I just looked at the application booklet and it says Honors program notification is the same time as admission. Wow, I mean I know I'm a mother (so not exactly objective), but knowing my son's stats and extensive ECs, I'm shocked he didn't get into the honors program!!! As for merit money, I figured he wouldn't get a University Scholarship, but Engineering website says $2500/yr "Academic Merit" for top 10% and 1300 or better SAT. My son is top 3% and 1340 (aaarrgghh 10 pts shy of University money!). OK, I'm done venting for now. And we are still happy about the acceptance!

mom3sons I know a girl with very similar stats (don't think she's above top 3%) who is in honors with a full tuition scholarship...maybe you should call?

Actually, I got my acceptance & scholarship seperate from my honors letter

They came like a week apart. You can always call the undergrad admissions office

I just called the undergrad admissions office. They said the honors invitation should be included with acceptance letter. She looked at my son's file and said he apparently was not invited. She said his file said he was top 2%, so maybe it was an oversight and she would send his file to be looked at again. That would take 2-3 weeks. As for scholarship money, they are very strict with the SAT score, absolutely has to be at least 1350. Engineering dept. merit award would come separately though. I should probably call Engineering to double check, but I've had my fill of phone calls for today.

I just found out from my gc that I got mine separately since I'm a permanent resident (since I'm originally Canadian). So I guess that I was evaluated by different departments

What is the 1350 bit? My SAT was over, and there was no mention of scholarship in the packet, or honors... granted I would already have a full ride there because I have a parent employed but can't I still get $ off room and board?

Not sure how it works if you're a child of employee, but website says to qualify for a "University Scholarship" you must be in top 10% of your class with 1350 or better SAT. As for the Honors program, I guess it has become extraordinarily competitive. They don't mention a minimum SAT on their website, but I'm told by a parent of an honors student that two years ago the minimum was 1340. So probably higher than that now.

..which I qualified for.. oh well..
but thanks for explanation.. and emeka o got pushed over by the honors program too so it's obviously not that great!! orrr just kidding..

you can always apply for it after your first semester, thats what i plan to do. The thing is they let a lot of people into it to try and get them to come to UCONN but the majority dont. So in the end they usually have lots of places that can be filled
