Quote from Matt's blog entry-

following the release of admissions decisions, we will be mailing necessary materials to admitted students, cylindrically.

Huzzah!
now we just have to deal with that small part about getting in...

Getting in? No biggie....

Sweet!

Or should I say...

TOTALLY TUBULAR!!!

Hmm...by some twist of fate that I do get it, which I highly, highly doubt, will the tube be dropped off in front of the door? I ask this because I live in townhomes where all we have are little mail cubbies...no way a tube is fitting in there.

The tube is kinda like Santa Clause. It doesn't matter where you are...it will come.

Yay for tubes!

You guys make it sound like getting tubes is an inalienable right of EA admits, rather than something MIT has happened to do for the past 4(? Laura, did the class of 2009 get them?) years and not before that. :)

so RD only gets flat envelopes? Or is it "tubes for everyone!"

i'm afraid there aren't enough tubes for RD applicants.

No tubes for RD applicants, but hey - you get a huge folder full of awesome exciting stuff anyways, (on top of admission to MIT in the first place), so I'm not complaining ;)

so tubes will arrive on monday for everyone who got in?

I doubt they'll arrive on Monday.

It's not that there aren't enough tubes, it's that there's too much stuff to send to RD admits, and it can't fit in a tube. EA admits also receive stuff around the RD decision date, and if they received it around the EA decision date, they wouldn't be able to get tubes either.

Over the past two years, the tubes have arrived a day or more after the online admissions decision. Some areas of the country may have to wait considerably longer than others, depending on the regional delivery service. My daughter did not find her tube for two days, because the delivery person placed it on the front porch and leaned it against the house behind a large potted plant. So if you're admitted EA, prepare to search around.

My tube totally didn't fit in my apartment mailbox, so I got a little slip my mailbox telling me I had something waiting for me in the nearest post office. The suspense nearly killed me :) (but yes my tube was safe and sound)

My tube didn't show up until the THURSDAY after decisions came online on Saturday, and they just dropped it at the base of my mailbox in the snow. I mean, I was waiting for the mail at the window by this point and ran out to rescue it, but those of you in colder locales... be aware.

^^^uh oh. then i hope it won't snow next week..since..my house has a VERY steep driveway that it might be too dangerous to drive up for that small UPUS truck to drop it off at my house...if i get in....

lol i hope it doesn't rain if i get one :p

I want one so badly!

TUBES!10 char
