EA and ED

What’s the difference between EA and ED? I don’t quite get the difference…

The main difference lies in “binding” versus “non-binding.”

EA: Early Action. You find out early. Not binding to commit. You can apply to multiple schools EA.
ED: Early Decision. You find out early and must attend. You agree to rescind all other college applications upon being accepted.
SCEA: Single Choice EA. Same as EA except can only apply to one school.

Some schools now call SCEA…REA (restricted early action). Again…you can only apply early to one school. Some schools do allow you to apply to your instate public university while applying SCEA or REA.

You need to check each college website for its restrictions.
