@sandromo - Sometimes it depends on the major you are applying to, or maybe they thought your class rigor was not strong enough. I don’t know what kind of classes you are taking but a lot times they are apt to accept someone with a lower gpa and 3 or 4 ap classes over someone with a higher gpa and only 1 or no aps. Then again, it could have been your essay wasn’t strong enough, who knows. But it is good you have other choices along with scholarship offers, it will all work out in the end.

i was accepted with a 2080, but my essays were also fairly strong. If you were deferred i would certainly keep them aware of your interest, if anything you’ll have a better shot at it when the regular decision apps come in as you have already demonstrated interest!

Marist tweeted that they had 11,000 applications for 1000 positions in the freshman class

Daughter was rejected. But she is fine with it. Takes it as a sign that she is meant to go to Syracuse, her other top choice. Thank God she got in there!

My S deferred, with 1950 SAT, good GPA, and ECs. Surprised but think they had such a large number of apps.

They might have 11,000 applications for 1,000 positions, but Marist has to accept an awful lot more than 1,000 of the applicants, since many of the applicants accepted will end up going to other schools.

The College Board website has that Marist accepted 40% of its applciants (probably last year’s data).

My son still hasn’t heard! Everyone he knows from CT that applied has heard!

It says on their twitter that if you haven’t heard back for EA by Monday to call them. Also, I really think a lot depends on the major you are applying to on your admittance.
My D applied RD so we haven’t heard yet, but 2 friends from school applied EA. One had a 1750 sat and was deferred, undeclared major. The other, and this is unbelievable to me, had a 1400 sat was accepted as a fashion major. She must have had an incredible portfolio!

My daughter was accepted to fashion too! Fashion majors have to first be accepted by the fashion panel then they have to be admitted through the regular school. I believe they only accept 45 into design not sure how many into merchandising. My daughter chose not to submit act scores as they were ok but not where they should be in comparison with her gpa (test like those have never been her strong point). Seems like it worked. She’s excited to have been accepted as it is probably her #1. I am hearing alot of kids deferred with high gpa’s and SAT/ACT scores. Must have been alot of competition!

Daughter accepted to Fashion Merchandising!! She is so happy was her #1 choice!

my d was deferred, applied ea - undeclared major. sat scores 1790, 3.7gpa with ap/honors classes and lots of ec. Accepted at 4 others with awesome scholarships from everyone but suny/new paltz. Must be a very competitive group!

Any Communications Major acceptances?

Yes. Son was accepted into Communications.

@mriccione I applied regular decision to Fashion Merchandising and if you dont mind me asking what did your daughter to her project on?

My daughter was rejected to the fashion merchandising school, but was told she would be accepted for the 2013 class if she attended another college and maintained a 2.8 GPA. I have never heard of that! She got into every other school she applied to. Marist is off the list now and in the future!

Wow! I’ve never heard of that either! What other schools did she get into? Hopefully one of those was her #1. I’m hearing alot of weird things coming out of different schools this year that I’ve never heard of before. We’re still waiting on a few schools. I found the portfolios for design to be overwhelming as each school wanted something different.

@ kjas2012 Sure. She analyzed the fashion company of Tory Burch. How about your daughter?

S was deferred. 1960 SAT, Ok but unweighted GPA but good Weighted. 8 AP classes jr and sr year , 4 yrs varsity sports, good other EC. Not his first choice but still a surprise.

@mriccione I analyzed juicy couture. also would you mind sharing your daughters stats? if you don’t mind me asking again

@2016BaltimoreMom - did your son declare a major or undecided?
