I have, and I’m not sure if it means anything significant in regard to my admission decision. A student at BC e-mailed me about a month ago and I have been conversing with them and asking them questions ever since.

Out of curiosity, has anyone else received similar e-mails? Thanks!

It’s my understanding that these email contacts are not directly related to the admissions decision. Student volunteers are given the email addresses of applicants as part of the school’s marketing campaign. Your receiving an email is dependent upon how many applicants there are compared to how many student volunteers there are, how busy your assigned student is and whether or not they bother to follow through.

For what it’s worth, my son was admitted EA last year and did NOT receive an email. He did, however, receive a phone call from a current student a month or two after the EA decisions were mailed out (but before my son had accepted).

We are a group of students (in the Student Admissions Program) who volunteer our time to answer prospective students’ questions. It’s not a part of a “marketing program” – we just want to talk to people about BC! Whether or not you receive an email has absolutely nothing to do with admissions: a bunch of busy college kids are given a list of email addresses and we email as many people as we have time for… same goes for postcards and post-acceptance phone calls. We have nothing to do with admissions decisions.
