My S applied EA, and UVM will be the first EA school he hears from (his other EA schools have later response dates). He's getting pretty excited, anybody else?

I hope he gets in! I found out last week that I was admitted (I used the VIP app). So, yeah I'm pretty excited!

Is it one of his top choices?

I'm FREAKING out..Vermont is my first choice and I hear friday!! Good luck to all others who applied :)

I went there about 2 centuries ago and it was the best 4 years of my life (slight exaggeration). S is applying and I hope he gets in and goes there (though I have to keep that little preference to myself and ALL OF YOU). To all who get in, you will get a great education, find yourself in one of the coolest cities in the country, and make wonderful friends. It is a school chock full of nice people.

It's one of his top 5, he's applying to 10. His best friend had a VIP application and just got in, but he wants to go to Lehigh. My S did not receive a VIP application unfortunately...

My friend found out over the phone today.

She got deferred and it was SO sad / suprising...she had a 3.5 gpa...

the decisions are online! My son was just accepted.

My D also got accepted. She logged on tonight at 5:01 and saw she was accepted.

I got accepted. :]

To all of you bragging parents:
How hard is it to write son or daughter. Those cute little abbreviations make you look like an immature 13 year old instant messaging her friends. You obviously have the time, considering that you are browsing a college gossip forum. Have some dignity and write like an educated adult.

by the way,
I GOT IN!!! YAY!

I got deferred.

Do you know where I can find statistics for deferred students and stuff? I'm planning to write them a heartfelt statement about how I like their school + burlington + everything and how I'll release my first semester grades as soon as we get them etc, but what else can I do??

Congrats, to all btw. :)

i cross posted this in the other EA thread!

hey guys, I applied using the VIP app, and my decision still isn't posted.. I find that strange. I was thinking maybe they don't know what aid/merit package to give me yet? did you guys find out how much money UVM is giving you?

Engineering-gal,

I got my scholarship information after my acceptance letter came in. So, I don't know if that has anything to do with it. You should try calling them since it's been so long. I think at this point it's okay. Or you could send them an e-mail.

Glamorouss- If you want to write a letter to them, talk about very, very specific reasons why you want to go there. Don't really talk about Burlington since that's the city and they know they're in Burlington. Go to the thread about writing the "Why_______?" thread. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-essays/431328-why-insert-school-essay.html

and this thread

Seafoamshame, the purpose of doing S or D is the same as for other abbreviations on this board, to speed up typing in your response. The majority of students on this board are 17 and 18. How come when they use abbreviations it doesn't make them look like immature 13 year olds, but if a parent does then it does?

I'll make a deal with you, if you'll start a campaign to get all the students to write out all their words, then I'll be happy to start a corresponding campaign for parents to do the same.

Thanks Cefron! That's really, really appreciated. :)

For those that have been accepted, did you hear of any merit scholarship? Honors program?

My result really surprised me, but I couldn't help but laugh because I'm already into significantly better schools.
First off let me say my GPA is distorted because of the rigor of my school, maybe UVM didn't have my schools profile or something.

Deferred (Listed as a VIP app despite using the common app because they sent it to me after I had applied)

3.1 GPA 2 AP, 2 Hon (Prep School)
1410/1600 2080/2400 (660CR, 750M, 670W)
Excellent Essay
Good Letters of Rec
Solid ECs

Vermont was my lowball safety and I got deferred

S was accepted EA, small Presidential Scholarship ($2000 a year), friend was offered the same scholarship.

Offered 3,000 a year and given another scholarship application.

Fell4ever, my son got a $3,000/yr scholarship as well. Was the other scholarship app in the same letter as the first scholarship info?

Congratulations also!
