Yes. We were surprised too!

wait i remember hearing that the accepted percentage for ea was pretty high for prior years. Is it true for this year? haha, i also applied ea. so nervous!!!

EA Acceptance percentage is always higher than RA, not because it's easier to get in EA (it's actually much harder) it's just most people know not to apply EA if they're not competitive, so the EA pool is a more self-selective, competitive group altogether. Not sure about this year--it will definitely be a higher percentage than regular, but it will be lower than last year. More applicants, same number of spots.

^Yeah, that seems to be the case at every top school. Except Brown, for whatever reason.

waitingtoolong: What you said about not getting a big spike in EA apps gave me a little bit of relief. Like most of you, I got really nervous when I heard they had an extra 3000. What date do they mail the letters out? I live in California so I'll probably get mine later than most.

"Oprah's Bladder," are you referring to my statement about EA being more difficult? Because if so, you are wrong. I believe it is common knowledge amongst ND hopefuls, but:

"Because the Admissions Committee is unable to extend all of its offers of admission in the Early Action process, it is highly conservative when making Early Action admission decisions. The Admissions Committee advises students to apply in the Early Action process only if they are in the very top ranges of our applicant pool."

A general impression I was given when applying was that it is very unlikely to get rejected straight up in EA. If anything, they suggested, they'll throw your app back in RA if you have any chance at all. Many people want to take a chance that they might be able to find out realy, so they apply EA.

Not that everyone should apply EA, but we were told by the rep that if you thought your chances were good, you should go ahead and apply.

We were checking with an admissions officer , they said the EA letters "go out late this week".

wow that's so soon! Ha i'm so anxious. I obviously don't want a rejection, but I also really don't want to get deferred, that would be so anticlimactic. So while we're going through this torturous waiting period, what parts of the country are all the EA applicants here from?

I'm from Chicago so hopefully I'll get it Saturday! Or hopefully not, depending on what the letter has inside. Where else did you guys apply to? I applied to BC, UMich, and UIllinois EA, but also applied/am applying to Northwestern, Vandy, USC (I know..), UCLA, NYU, and 2 safeties (SLU and Loyola Chicago).

I think I already said but I'm from Southern California, and I'm also applying to UCLA, BC, Georgetown, Stanford, Harvard, Penn (ya those last three are pretty low chances) and Santa Clara and University of San Diego as backups.

I like that you have backups. Some kids at my school are so arrogant that they don't even have safeties. Or, what they consider a safety is really a realistic or, in a few cases, a reach.

I'm from El Paso- haha as you can probably tell from my username, so I probably will not be getting a letter until Monday- usually ND mail takes about 4 days to get to me : )

Do they notify us by email to? Or is it just a letter in the mail...if so God Knows when an international letter will come through my postbox

Internationals are informed both by e-mail and by DHL express service.

My son is getting nervous. Hopefully you will all know by Saturday, and hopefully it will bring good news to all of you. I am sure that you will all end up where you are meant to be.

i am literally dying waiting for my letter. i check the mail obsessively. i'm from pittsburgh, so i'm hoping i'll hear this weekend. i don't know how much longer i can take not knowing!

WE live in NY many heard on Saturday in Dec 2006 but we heard Monday. Hang in there!

I know Brown and Notre dame are very different but both to me are comfortable environments. I'm an UK muslim who went to a Catholic School...adapting is what i'm capable of doing! Plus I love the Notre Dame architecture

Wait so they already sent them out?! Omg! I applied EA to ND, BC, Georgetown, Unc-chapel hill, and Villanova (hopefully a safety). I'm pretty sure Georgetown will reach me tomorrow and now ND was also sent out?! Yikes! Now Im really nervous!! Good luck everyone and keep us posted if you get a letter!
