I think you have a very good chance. Look at other LACs as well; Middlebury, Amherst, Lafayette and Wahington and Lee, to name a few offer fantastic aids for international students. Good Luck!

Your grades seem a little low, but your ECs should cover that. Good luck

Your SAT scores are well above Colgate’s average, and you have great outside-of-school accomplishments. Colgate is need aware though, so your financial situation will be factored into the admissions process.

Just wondering, what attracts you to Colgate? I was also interested in CU because of their great economics program

willpostforfood: hey man thanks a lot for that.but do you think my profile is good enough for Amherst and middlebury?the reason I’m saying this is because Colgate comparatively has a less competitive ED pool and has a good acceptance rate.I would love to go to middlebury and etc but do you think i would have a good shot in ED?

pch340: thanks man i hope i do get in.the things that attract me is their campus.i looked up on it and it looks beautiful.plus i have a friend who went there who’s opinion i would consider to be one of the best and he certainly motivated me enough to apply there.and yeah i’ll be applying for Economics Major as well :)

Grades look low for Middlebury, Amherst. Do you know your GPA and rank? ED at Colgate gives big admissions boost. I think you would have good odds getting into Colgate ED.

Great EC’s! just keep working and you’ll be fine ED

thanks everyone!
can anyone tell me if there are any other colleges that give really good aid packages for international students and at the same time, are better colleges?

Great SATs and great grades! You surely have a shot at Colgate.
Good luck!

You need to spend some time in the Financial Aid, and International Students Forums. Since you can’t afford to pay the full cost of your education in the US, you do not have any safety schools here. All you have are reaches.

You also need to remember that even though your family is willing to pay $20,000 each year, the colleges and universities may expect them to pay significantly more money. It doesn’t matter whether or not the place is “need-blind” or “need-sensitive” for international applicants, what matters is whether or not the financial aid offer you get next April makes it affordable for your family. There are plenty of “need-sensitive” institutions that do offer one or two big scholarships each year to international applicants that they really want, and then reject all of the others that they can’t give aid to. What you absolutely don’t want to do, is to apply to a whole bunch of “need-blind” institutions only to learn that none of them can give you the aid that you need.

Don’t neglect to find yourself some affordable safeties in Canada.

thanks for the support and info guys especially on financial aid yeah i’ll apply to canada as well :)
