EA at Georgetown and ED 2 at another school?

If I apply EA to Georgetown but do not get accepted, can I then apply ED 2 to another school? It seems only fair, since they are now placing me in the regular decision group?

That would be fine.

How do you know that?
How can I find out for sure without calling the school?
I don’t want to tip them off that I may want to do that. I was totally into Georgetown until this week when I visited another school that fell in love with!

I don’t believe you would find out from Georgetown about your EA early enough to complete most schools ED. But if in fact there are schools that do ED application deadlines after 12/15. (I beleive Tufts had ED I & ED II), you can only apply to one ED. Isn’t that what you are agreeing to. If you get in, you have to go.

The general rule is that if you are deferred on an ED1 or EA application, you are free to apply to another school ED2. I can’t imagine GU is any different; as you point out, it just wouldn’t make sense.

I know that ED is binding, of course I would only apply to one school. There are a number of schools with ED2 - January submissions. At most schools, including Georgetown, EA notification is before Christmas.

My question is, can I apply ED2 if I am not accepted in the first round of EA acceptances. Is it assumed that application restrictions only apply to ED I if not accepted?

Why not just call and ask? No one is going to take down your name and then mark that on your file… at worst, call and use a fake name or something… but trust me I don’t think they care with the volume of apps they get every year…

What about another school with and ED II deadline of 12-15-10? There is only a 2 week overlap, as Georgetown sends notices on 12-15. My situation is that Georgetown is definitely a reach, while the other school is recruiting me for athletics and says I need to do ED for them to get me in.
I just don’t want to not try for Georgetown. Their coach says if I can get in on my own merit, I have a spot on the roster (Division 1 vs. Division 3 at the other school).
Is this overlap likely a problem?
Thanks

You can wait to hear from Georgetown until 12/15. If you get accepted would you go?

If you don’t hear by 12/15 (the ED date right?) or do not get accepted, then you have to make sure you get your ED submitted on that day. Which should be fine if your doing online application.
