EA at Harvard or Wharton?

Now, before you say “WHAT?” Listen to my reasoning.
I am a international student from Canada. My career is in the business world.

1.Wharton a better choice for business.
2.Wharton at Upenn is not very famous internationally? (like to normal people). Especially compared to Harvard.
3. Back on the other hand, EA to Wharton is a much better chance than EA to Harvard. (30% vs 20%) I am international too.

What do you think?

EA at Wharton is nowhere near 30%. It's much closer to that 20% figure.

harvard has a higher ea than wharton

Ugh, not another one of these thigns. If you're picking colleges for names you're really not being mature about it. Go to the college that you like the most in terms of EC's, classes, curriculum, etc. Whether a famer in albania knows Wharton or not doesn't matter. The people who count know. No buts- they all know. Same with every other top 10 school. It's their job to know. Let this be the end of these questions.

good point footballer. A good majority of the Fortune 500 CEOs have either a BS or MBA from Wharton, so in terms of success (publicly seen), I would say Wharton is definitely on top.

a good majority :)

I don't think so...many CEOs graduate from other schools besides Ivys...gasp! I know, I know, it may seem impossible, but it's sadly true. Going to an Ivy doesn't make you set for life...it's luck, good ideas and connections

can we compare banana with pineapple?

beside, this is not a problem now. Can we apply ED to wharton & harvard at the same time? I dont think so, So either you get in as a wharton ED or harvard ED, you do not have both choices at the same time

actually, i believe there was a thread recently about how NONE of the companies listed on the S and P 500 have CEO's that are Wharton products. of course, thats not the Fortune 500, but there is a great deal of overlap between companies on SP500 and and Fortune 500, proving that no where close to a majority of Fortune500 companies have Wharton produced CEO's.

I'd rather worry worry about where I have a better shot than which school is better to get accepted at.

ok ok ok, I retract my statement. But I stand besides the fact that Wharton produces high calibur business people; people who make it big in the business world and who are seen in public (CEOs and the who's who of the business world). What should matter is that going into a Wharton education, one knows he/she will be very prepared for the business world after graduation.

While a majority of CEOs are not Wharton graduates, if you look at the next tier of high-ranked executives, you'll find the Wharton name featured prominently. CEOs are very unique people. It takes charisma and charm, not just smarts to be a CEO.

you could have done EA Harvard and ED wharton. but its too late for that now...unless youre applying next year.

You can't EA Harvard and ED Wharton... Harvard is Single Choice Early Action... Can't apply anywhere else.

And I don't know if this has been said yet, but Wharton ED has a LOWER acceptance rate than Harvard EA, but Penn as a whole has a higher rate than Harvard when you factor in the College, SEAS, and Nursing.

CEO? It's all about the CFO!

That is not true. Harvard is SCEA and Wharton if you apply ED does not let you apply anywhere else. On this note, however, how much harder is Wharton ED than the Penn College of Arts and Sciences ED?

Ok Lucky...I agree to what you're saying now :)

There's no doubt that harvard EA is significantly more difficult than Wharton ED. Even by virtue of EA vs. ED (EA is always harder since there are more applicants), let alone the fact that it's Harvard.

Why doesn't the OP first get into either one of them first? Judging by the questions it looks like s/he yet has to do enough research into both the schools.

Well, while the percentage of acceptance for Wharton ED (18%? Not sure) is lower than Harvard EA (24% last year), I think the quality of applicants may be better at Harvard than Wharton as a whole.

However, it just depends... I mean, if you go to Harvard, you have to do a econ major. Whereas at Wharton, it's business undergrad, something a lot different. If you want to go into business, I definitely suggest Wharton.

My point exactly. Its not as easy as he thinks.
