<p>i'm a junior right now and i'm trying to get opinions on whether or not I should apply early action to Notre Dame....first choice by far...</p>
<p>High school gpa: 3.7 uw, 4.1 weighted...tough school.. doesnt do class rankings but def. in to 10%
SAT: 680CR, 730M, 700W (taking one more time I think)
ACT: 30
legacy: big time</p>

Soccer:4 years in highschool, coaches award(twice), lettered 3 times, Captain
Lacrosse: 4 years in highschool, lettered twice, coaches award, captain
Piano: 8 years, all through
Sailing: camp 2 years in highschool, then BVI leadership sailing trip(same program), counselor the next year at same camp, ASA certification
Church: Youth Council 4 years, confirmed (Catholic), NCYC (national catholic youth convention), mission trip twice, Annual Antioch Retreat Leader (2 years, plan, organize, and lead retreat)
CS: Habitat for Humanity Club (2 years), Treasurer, Relay For Life fundraising and participant 4 years
National Honor Society
Drama: School play 2 years (Les Mis and Lion King)
Model UN: University of Chicago 2 years</p>

<p>You have to give people more than 15 minutes to reply to your post, perhaps even a couple days! </p>
<p>That being said, it is a tough call. I would probably say wait for RD due to your test scores, but I would email admissions and ask them. They are the ultimate judge anyway, so let them advise you on what to do. </p>
<p>If you got around a 33-34 on the ACT I would probably tell you to go ahead and go EA due to the legacy. BTW, what do you mean when you say you are a big time legacy?</p>
<p>I got in EA with a 33.......that doesn't sound so much higher to me, I think I would go with EA b/c I really don't think u'd be rejected, just deferred ( if not accepted)</p>

Well anyway, I'd say EA would probably not be a good idea. While I'd say you will definitely get in, I doubt you will get in EA, and being deferred will probably just make you miserable for the 5 month wait for the verdict. I have similar stats to you, except a 33 ACT, and I'm not a legacy (I'm jealous) and I think I'm going to wait for regular. I know lots of people who applied early action, only 2</p>
<p>i would take SATs again and see how you do. gotta have the numbers to get in early action. from my experience getting in early this year, the strength and unique nature of my schedule along with solid extracurriculars (leadership in organizations in addition to sports) sealed the deal. you look pretty solid, but you need to stand out either with numbers or extracurriculars, and i don't know if either is strong enough to get in early right now.</p>
<p>I don't mean to be a downer, but a few posters sound a bit optimistic here. I think you better check with your rep.</p>
<p>If you really want ND, do a little research on EA. A two minue check of the EA admit thread here showed that of the 25 ACT scores posted ONE student was admitted with your ACT,,,He was a double legacy minority with a 4.2.
There was one other student with a score of 31. The overall average was a 33.</p>
<p>my mom has a good friend who is a relative of an admissions officer at ND. The AO's own son wasn't admitted last year, and he was supposedly a very strong student. Just a little perspective when deciding to apply early or not.</p>
<p>If you believe what the author says in "The Price of Admission," ND does give a big boost to legacies -- if they are otherwise qualified -- although I don't believe they admit anywhere near 50% of legacies. (Otherwise, the freshman class would be much, much larger, LOL.)</p>
