Actually, how about 46%? According to a 2006 article in the Observer, for the incoming 2007 freshman class legacies represent almost 10% of the applicants, 17% of the accepted students, and 23% of enrolled students. If you work the math, legacies are accepted at about a 46% rate and the yield is close to 80%.

I worry about your statement that you are pretty sure you'll get in RD...just a little too sure for me! I don't think there is anyone out there that can be that sure these days about ND! My d, a double legacy, with a 35 ACT wasn't even so sure! So~ to be careful, I'd check with your advisor and then if unsure, wait for RD. You do seem a better shot at that than the EA group.
Good luck though!

and i'm not worried about the statement i made earlier Irishcali...i have 5 cousins there right now who had lower gpas and much lower SATs than I do... and theyve all been extremely successful...actually one of them is the senior class president for next year...and my grandpa calls me every once in a while to see how my grades are...he knows my SAT and hes sure

and i get my SATs back this thursday and i'm feeling good about them... anxious

Must be nice to have all that confidence. Congrats and good luck.

I say if you know you will have GREAT recs, and good essays, your ECs are good enough to support you...I say apply EA.
I applied EA with a 29 ACT, but with many other great things to balance it out. I got in. (& I'm not a legacy).
Sometimes the advice on CC is too exaggerated. Test scores aren't everything.

thank you lizziepoo

griffon, I'll repeat my advice, call or email your ND admissions couselor and ask his/her opinion. They will have you lay it all out and give you their recommendation. I know many legacies with great stats that have been rejected. Tests scores aren't everything, but if you go through ND's last chat session, with respect to EA they said nothing, GPA, EC's etc. will make up for lower than average SAT scores in EA. LizziePoo also got in to WashU with a 29 ACT, so she must have something incredible on her resume.
It would be much safer to put the decision in the hands of a ND admission's counselor than us. Besides it also serves to create a relationship with your admission's counselor which is never a bad thing.
