Hello everybody,
I'm in a little bit of a dilemma. I want to apply EA to Stanford (deadline Nov. 1) but I need to retake my SAT one more time (I will on Oct 1). However, Stanford strongly recommends 2 Subject tests. I have not taken any. I wanted to take the SAT and my 2 subject tests on Oct. 1 but apparently you cannot do that, and hence next available time I can take my subject tests is November 5. So, I need some advice. Should I apply EA and submit my app on Nov 1 with no subject tests, or should I apply regular decision after I finish taking the 2 subject tests? Your help is very appreciated. Sorry for the essay! Thanks!

Unless you have some seriously dazzling ECs, I’d recommend you apply RD. Stanford’s EA pool is comprised of the best, and the early accepted students are generally a cut above the accepted students of the regular pool.

There is no way (without above mentioned ECs or hooks) you are at the level of an EA student without your subject tests, and if you want to retake your SAT I doubt that is indicative of your talent, thus not at the level of SCEA applicants.

You’d be better off in RD. The worst is having a chance of getting in RD, but being downright rejected in SCEA.

lol @challenged, “i doubt that is indicative of your talent” that’s a bit harsh, but thanks, i appreciate the reply. and good luck maliaankton!
