Curious about your experience at this weekend’s event? Did it change anyone’s mind about attending Villanova?
Did you learn anything new?
Congratulations on your Early Admission!
Really well done event - Clearly showed the school spirit of the Nova Nation, and every student and staff member we encountered was friendly, open and welcoming. At one point on Friday wandering around in the Jake Nevin Field House we ran into the director of admissions and he personally took my daughter, wife and I on a private tour of the men’s and women’s basketball facilities and walked us over to the Connolly center where our next scheduled session was,
Their business internship and placement programs and stats are very impressive.
If there any one observation working against them, its a distinct lack of diversity, in both the admitted EA class, and the students we met on campus. Very suburban, mid to upper income & white group, too much like my D’s high school, so much so that this was her repeated comment, that she wants college to be different.
Our daughter still has other highly selective options, so we will also go to EA accepted student days there, but in my view it raised Nova’s position on our list.
What they don’t tell you is the highly competitive nature of clubs. Most of the ‘active’ ifnot all the business clubs are by application only as well as many other organizations.
Actually two of the student speakers on Saturday, one at the general opening session and another during the VBS parent session talked about getting rejected from a number of clubs, but ultimately finding their place at Nova. I’m sure it was a bit sugar coated but they did not try to hide that it’s an application process for clubs.
