<p>ECs:
Track and Field: 9th-12th; I do triple jump and I throw shot put and discus. Unfortunately, I think this is the year I'll shine at state :( Last year I placed at district in each of my events but I didn't qualify to state. I now train year round for my events.</p>
<p>Capoeira: 9th-12th; a Brazilian martial art that combines dance, gymnastics and traditional fighting techniques. I wrote my essay about the night I landed my first backflip at capoeira. It draws an interesting parallel between the condition of the slaves who developed capoeira and the metaphorical shackles we bind ourselves with by lacking confidence.</p>
<p>Volunteer at Animal Humane Association: 11th-12th; around 100 hours so far</p>
<p>Internship at Sandia National Laboratories (2 summers) - worked in a group that worked on communications technologies</p>
<p>Community Builders Program: 11th; a class about nonprofit organizations with site visits. At the end of the program we allocated $10,000 to various organizations after reading their project proposals</p>
