EA Chances?

I know we’ll be receiving letters within a few days, but I can hardly contain my anxiety and excitement. I’m looking for a few opinions, perhaps from some BC students themselves?
Thank you!

ECs:

Essays + Recs: Recommendations were great, one from the history chairperson whom I had written a song cycle for as an extra credit project, one from my literature teacher (a Brown University student), and one from my choir director which wasn’t too well-written.

The essays are my strongest point. I’d written my main essay about my favorite songwriter, Paddy McAloon. I discussed his cathartic effect on my life following my mother’s heart attack, and how his words and music influenced my desires to change people’s lives with my own songwriting and lyricism.

Hooks: First in immediate family to attend university. I’d also experienced two significant tragedies during my high school years, which my guidance counselor may have highlighted in his recommendation letter.

This may prove to be of significance: I sent the school a CD of a few songs I’ve written through my high school career. A few were simple pop songs, others were from an ambitious history project I’d taken on regarding the life of Mao Zedong through song (Mao That’s What I Call Music!) and a few were orchestral pieces. I explained in a letter that BC was my first choice and hopefully my talent was considered (I also boast a song on iTunes, something which may set me apart from the majority of applicants)

Thanks again for any consideration!

I think you have a really good shot. Although your GPA is a little low for BC, it seems that you offer other things that the typical BC student doesn’t. Good luck:)

I don’t think I did the conversion right, actually haha. My GPA is a 93.4 unweighted, but our school only weighs AP classes 1.05% so I only ended up benefiting about 3 or 4 points higher than my unweighted average. I’m hoping that BC will take my course vigor into consideration, because I’ve always taken the highest courses my school offers (with the exception of Calculus BC, which I decided not to take).
But thank you so much for the quick response! It’s great to know I have a decent shot at acceptance; I fell in love with Boston College over the summer, and I’d really love to attend!

You look like a sure thing. Hope it works out.

I was accepted, everybody! Thank you so much for the kind words, BC is my top choice and I’m so excited to be accepted. Congrats to everybody else who was accepted!
