EA Chances

I would greatly appreciate any comments regarding my chances in the very competitive EA pool. I am a little leery of applying early because of the quality of all of the applicants, but desperately want to go to Notre Dame! I am a white Catholic male from an exceedingly competitive suburban high school in Illinois and am on an upward academic trend (4.143 freshmen year, 4.571 sophomore year, 4.714 junior year). I am not a legacy.

Sat I: 2300 750 Critical Reading 750 Math 800 Writing (1 sitting)
Sat II: 800 Bio M 790 US History
PSAT: 228
GPA: 4.0 unweighted 4.476 weighted
Rank: 3-4% out of 789 students
AP: 5 Bio 5 US History
ECs: Speech Team for 4 years (Regional and Sectional Team as sophomore and junior) Most Improved Award sophomore year and I will probably be on the executive board as a senior
Varsity Lacrosse (but I shattered and dislocated my collarbone as a sophomore, did not play as a junior, will not play as a senior, and can never play again because of the injury)
Latin Club Executive Board
National Honor Society
Volunteer work as library, Children's Museum, hospital
At least National Merit semifinalist

Thanks for any advice!

I would definitely apply early if I were you.

As for your chances, I won't comment on that because frankly it doesn't matter what I or anyone else thinks, as it won't impact your decision to apply (nor should it). Just continue to work hard and I'm sure you will be satisfied with the results.

I agree with nameless, you should definitely apply early!

I think you have an excellent shot. Your ECs appear to be kind of average (for a school like ND), but your scores, GPA, and class rank make you a perfect candidate for EA. I really can't think of a reason that you would not be accepted. I wish you the best of luck!

Agreed, you are safe to apply EA and I think you will have an excellent shot. Good luck!
