I told myself I wouldn't, but would you please rate my chances here? =) Thanks!

ACT: 31 (if you combine the highest of all my subscores) => I am going to retake, but since I am applying EA it will not make a difference for Chicago
GPA: 3.99 UW in rigorous courses
7 APs, including a university class I am currently enrolled in

Main ECs:
Play two instruments (very involved with)
Newspaper (really love this, want to be a journalist someday!)
Varsity sport (4 yrs)
Intern in campaign (really enjoyed this)
Member of usual honor societies

Recs: 4 Recs from people who know me well, should be good!

Essays: Spent LOTS of time on these. I definitely thought they conveyed who I am

Notes:
I know my ECs are not impressive compared to what some people have, but the things I do I really enjoy. Again, I love newspaper and one of my favorite hobbies is to read the NY Times (I want to work there someday). Also, Chicago is my first choice school. I have visited and had an interview that went....well, it went.

Thanks for taking the time! =)

You have a great chance, you should get in.

Schmivy- Well, three of them are from teachers, I could not decide so I just asked three. One is from someone I worked for.

Well, so far everyone has been positive, anyone else?? I am mostly worried about my scores and lack of ECs.

1) Difficulty of coursework- good
2) Essays- excellent (presumably)
3) Grades- excellent
4) Test score- within middle 50% (29-33)
5) ECs- average

I'm guessing a probable acceptance but possibly a deferral.

I don't think your ECs are lacking. After all, what is important for Chicago, as far as I can tell, is that you /do/ have interests and pursue them wholeheartedly. It doesn't take a published author or olympic medalist or being president of [insert two digit number] clubs to do that.

Thanks! =)

Bump, anything is appreciated!! And please, be brutally honest!

I am beginning to think I will be deferred...if so, at least that is better than rejection. What do you guys think?

Wait, I should correct my original post, I have a 3.99 W, meaning I have several B+'s and a few B's.

^Oh that does make a difference. Why is it so low with so many APs? What is your unweighted?

BTW: Is the middle 50% 29-33 or 28-33? I know the website says 29 but I have a new pamphlet from the school and it says 28. I asked the rep that came to my school and she says it's actually 28. I know test scores aren't the most important at UoC but I'm just wondering.

I think my GPA UW would be ~3.7, I also have a lot of A's. Only about 3-4 B+'s, B's.

But I do not think Chicago recalculates GPA anyway...(I hope) My GPA is not really what I am worried about (unless you think I should be), mostly because I feel it is fair and reflects my true work ethic, I am just worried about my scores and interview.

My couns did tell me that I have a few more B+'s than Chicago is used to seeing. However, I just got my quarter grades and I have straight A's (one 100%) with 5 APs, and no electives or free periods, so obviously, I can do the work and have great trajectory. Anyone else?

^Those quarter grades won't be seen by Chicago. Your UW GPA is very high as are your scores. You'll be fine.

If I'm in a guessing mood I'd say you are deferred. But what do I know about the admissions process?

^ Thanks : )
Bump, anyone else? Btw, if you think I will be deferred, is it because of any particular part of my resume?

EDIT: I have also e-mailed my admissions rep several times to let her know how much I love Chicago...I think I was maybe one step away from begging oops! So, either I really ****ed her off or impressed her. What do you think? Was that a stupid move?

bendumfront, nobody can really predict your chances. Take chicagonobel as an example.

He really wanted to go to Chicago and applied EA. His stats were good, his essay was awesome, and he showed a ton of apassion for the school. We thought he was a shoo-in. He was rejected outright- he's now at Stanford. You can't predict these things.

^ OK, thanks. Yes, I am aware it is impossible for one to predict an admissions decision. And, yes, I am a little ashamed that I have stooped so low...as to ask something so impossible, but I just cannot stand being unsure about something...

Haha, I know what you mean. In fact, I think I am experiencing similar anxiety, except that my uncertainty is kicking in a year in advance. :) If only I were a senior now, there would be no need to fret about the possibility of confronting the dreaded Common App when applying to Chicago!

OK, guys...I do not care that this is pointless and meaningless...please keep commenting! ;-)

BUMP!
