EA Chapman Dodge, class of 2017

Did any of your decisions change yet?
It has finally changed to Decision Reached today. I am hoping for a good news! I guess i’ll be posting my status either way on here. Good luck to you guys all!

Mine changed tonight as well! Very excited and hope the decision comes in the mail before Monday. Good luck to everyone else waiting to hear!

My webadvisor changed to decision made on the 18th and I got my letter on the 26th. Accepted to Dodge film production! I’m super pumped to go there next year. Has anyone heard about the new Filmmakers village? It’s rumored to be completed by Fall 2013, but Chapman has nothing about it on its website.

That’s awesome! Well I’m pretty sure mine will come to my house on Monday…it’s very nerve-racking. Congratulations though!
I heard that filmmakers village is being delayed a few years. When I visited them last summer, I didn’t see any progression. There was just a concept model in the main building, but that was about it.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

I’m applying next year for film production. Chapman’s one of my top choices next to NYU and USC.

I am already feeling the stress you guys are and I haven’t applied yet, LOL! I can only imagine how you guys are feeling.
good luck to all you guys.

Next year when I’m applying i’m gonna quote this post :P

Mine changed on Friday! The wait is killing me but congrats filmprods! I am DYING to see if I got in or not :)

hey fythic and filmprods, congrats on acceptance. I’m just curious as to where you both live, state wise. My status changed to decision reached on 1/24 but I live in Florida so I’m wondering when I should be expecting my decision to come in the mail

theuser- i live in southern california just a couple hours away from chapman

Don’t worry. I live like an hour away from Chapman and I still haven’t gotten the decision letter. My changed on the 24th as well.

Timothetoad- you’ll probably get it today or tomorrow. Hopefully I’ll get it by the end of the week

It didn’t today either! This wait is killing me!

For anyone else who has not seen a status change, I was told by the admissions counselor a final decision was made for my application and that i’d be hearing back in a few weeks, however i had no status change at all online!

But if we have seen a change to “decision reached” we should get our decision reasonably soon right?

Still waiting too! :)

Is there something wrong if my decision was changed to “Decision Reached” on the 24th and still hasn’t come yet? I only live an hour away from it too. Hmmmm.

I got decision reached on the 25th. Still haven’t heard anything more than that.

FYI to those still waiting: My son is a sophomore in Dodge. His “waiting to hear” period two years ago was miserable. It said “decision pending” all the way until March. He contacted them to find out what was going on and they said sorry, someone should have contacted him (but hadn’t). They had moved his application into the TV production candiate pool (listed as his second choice), and was that okay? (yes, of course, that’s why he put it as second choice!). Then in late March/early April the college sent him a “congratulations for getting in to Chapman” e-mail inviting him to an event for accepted students – this was prior to receiving any formal letter of acceptance. So we figured he had gotten in and it was confirmed a week later by mail. The grueling wait had taken most of the joy out of the process. So I am sharing all of this with you to let you know there is a lot of last minute decision-making going on sometimes, and do not give up if you have not heard yet or if you have been deferred.

The program at Chapman is very impressive. They really do put a camera in the student’s hands on day-one. My son has already worked two internships and has worked in various roles on serveral student productions. In his first three semesters he has had several film production, sound, writing, editing and theory classes, not just the boring GE classes that often fill your first few years of college. Good luck to those still waiting to hear!

It hurts to say, but I did not get in. Unfortunately. I wish luck to all of you waiting!

Just curious, but can there be an appeal process? Or no?

I am very sorry Timothetoad that you were not accepted. Film Production is a very difficult major to get accepted into at Dodge College with immense competition from so many excellent candidates vying for only 70 available spots. So keep fighting.

Have you heard back from LMU and Emerson yet? California State University at Northridge looked to me to have an excellent film school as well to attend. Check them out:

[CSUN Department of Cinema and Television Arts](http://www.ctva.csun.edu/)

Thanks for the reassurance.

I haven’t heard from LMU or Emerson yet! And of course! I am right down the street from CSUN. I’m just a little reluctant to go there even if I get in to CSUN because it’s just so residential. I want that college experience of living in dorms, getting new friends, and just have fun attending one.

I’m trying to stay optimistic with this rejection letter, and I’m a strong believer in the saying of “Everything happens for a reason.” I’m sure another door will open for me.
