Where else did you apply? Lots of other schools, but NU was a reach school.

General Comments & Advice: I’m glad I made it, NU is a great school. I feel bad because it seems like more qualified people were deferred, and my GPA is so bad, but oh well.
Anyone know how much Northeastern takes senior mid year grades into account for admissions? I think I will be getting a few Bs. I was deferred and I’m devastated as this is my number 1 school. Hopeful for RD decisions though!!!

Dean’s Scholarship- $22,000 per year
handep - how is this possible? U are a solid Columbia candidate.
@Annie4321 we were also shocked by the financial aid received by NEU. Our EFC as determined by Northeastern was $25,000 more than the FAFSA EFC, leaving us with a net price of $45,000 a year. I contacted my financial aid counselor and was told he would increase my tuition grant, only to find out that meant a mere $3000. That leaves us with $42,000+ a year. We are seriously considering declining the admission offer right now.

@nhsstudent123 Northeastern is a CSS Profile school so the FAFSA EFC is meaningless. What did the Northeastern NPC show?
@TomSrOfBoston the net price calculator shows $32,307.
@greeneandh Just made one!
@TomSrOfBoston Sorta confused now. I thought Northeastern used both CSS and FAFSA? How come we have to send FAFSA to them if they don’t use it?
@halfdust
I believe the FAFSA is used for federal grants and loans. I have FA and have to submit the FAFSA yearly for that purpose, but never have to submit my CSS profile.
Is Bioengineering a strong field at northeastern? I was recently accepted into that major but i read that it was not an accredited program. Can someone confirm this or at least comfort me in my choice lol. I’m leaning towards northeastern because of the medical prowess of Boston and how the co-op program can help develop relationships in said field. I was planning on going to Northeatsen but if the program isn’t strong, i might have to reconsider.
@FIFAIDS The undergrad bioengineering program is fairly new and has not yet graduated its first class. The doctoral program is older. No program can be accredited until the first class has graduated. That is how ABET and other accrediting agencies operate.
@halfdust I believe that the CSS Profile is only required for first time freshman applicants.
Hi guys! I was deferred Ea & I found this on the Northeastern website:
“Students whose native language is not English, regardless of their country of citizenship or residence, are required to submit official results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the English Test of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or the Pearson Test of English (PTE). Applicants must present the required minimum passing scores for admission.”
My first language is not English. I was born in Iraq and I immigrated to the US when I was 7 years old, so my first language is Arabic. I figured I didn’t need to do this but it says “regardless of country of citizenship or residence.” I’m a US Citizen, I’ve lived in the US for 10 years. It’s pretty clear that I am competent in English based on my grades in Honors/AP English classes (consistently 95+), SAT score, and 5 on the AP Lang exam in addition to lots of writing awards but maybe this caused a problem? My CommonApp says my first language is Arabic. Seems like a strange requirement.
@sciencenerd123 The website goes on to say:
“Northeastern’s English Proficiency Requirement may be waived at the discretion of the Admissions Committee if you will have spent at least 4 academic years studying at institutions (high schools, colleges or universities) where English was the primary language of instruction, and was studied at an academic level as opposed to being studied as a second or additional language.”

@TomSrOfBoston OK thanks.
Does anyone know if we are limited to one document upload in the application portal?
