[ b]Reflection**

Strengths: my extracurriculars, I applied to the marketing school and I have a lot of social media experience.
Weaknesses: my gpa
Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: I have no idea. People way better than me were deffered but people objectively “worse” than me got in.
What would you have done differently?: Learned Northeastern had a computer science and business dual major
Where else did you apply? Dartmouth (ED differed) Brown, Cornell, Wellesley, MIT, Lehigh, NYU, BU, BC (and a couple others last minute because I got a waiver).

[ b]Other Factors: **

[ b]General Comments & Advice:** I have no idea why they got in. A lot of people applied to Northeastern from my school and only 3ish got in unlike the 30ish that got in last year. So either this school became way more competitive or…idk

Reflection

Strengths: scores scores scores! also maybe being from midwest? and essay
Weaknesses: ec’s. Definitely.
Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: probably test scores so they can bump up average lol
What would you have done differently?: do more ec’s in high school!!!
Where else did you apply? CWRU, Fordham, OSU, OU, Colorado College, cornell, yale, mit. Accepted to all so far, haven’t heard back from last 3.

General Comments & Advice:
If you’re like me with not many ec’s DONT BE AFRAID TO APPLY TO PLACES!! I was debating applying to here and colorado college especially and i got into both!! Good luck <3

[ b]Reflection**

Strengths: uh, i guess i had a pretty good transcript and all plus i did research in my intended major to show i had a lot of interest??
Weaknesses: probably just lack of commitment to extracurriculars
Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: Probably because of the strengths??
What would you have done differently?: Study for the SAT over the summer
Where else did you apply?

[ b]General Comments & Advice:**
I’m in the College of Engineering btw.
Do extracurriculars that you want to do. Study hard for the SAT. Just because you have a high SAT score doesn’t mean you’ll get in (and the same applies vice versa). You don’t have to have a million extracurriculars or leadership positions, even tho the people in your school in 4892375 clubs will tell you otherwise. Don’t do school sports just to put it on your college app. Start your main common app essay in the SUMMER, trust me your future self will thank you for this decision when the rest of your friends are suffering in September and October. Specifically for Northeastern: this school has been growing immensely in popularity the past few years. A TON of ppl from my school are applying and a bunch of ppl thought it’s a “safe” school but a lot of ppl with high stats are getting deferred. Northeastern is getting more and more selective and don’t apply with the mindset that it’s safe.

@MaizeScream i’m waiting too. @TomSrOfBoston does the actual Fa package tend to look similar to the Calculator online.

@MaizeScream Did you submit your FAFSA and CSS by the priority deadline? We receive our FA package with the acceptance notification.

@bethanylm291 no, there was a mistake with a W2 that we fixed the day after acceptance. But its taking them a while…

@L1492BO Admissions packet arrived in the mail today. (Wisconsin)

Thank you for getting back to me!! Still awaiting mine in FL

Decision: Accepted with $16,000/year scholarship to D’Amore-McKim School of Business: Finance

To be quite honest, my stats are not the strongest. I would say, however, that I made up for it in my extracurriculars.

STATS
SAT: 1530 M:800 CR:730
SAT IIS: 800 Math Level 2, 750 Chinese
AP: Taken 9 since freshman year, but I did not submit any of my scores

Extracurriculars:
Co-founder of E-commerce
President of 2 clubs
City hall experience

Congratulations to everyone else who got in!

My D was accepted with a Dean’s Scholarship ($12k/yr) and to be honest we were underwhelmed by the amount of the merit award b/c of her academics and scores (SAT: 1540, ACT: 36, Rank: 3/191; lots of EC, AP classes) but after reading how many were deferred with equally amazing records, I’m baffled. Naviance totally needs to be updated :frowning: She was accepted into the College of Science - do they not get as much merit as the Engineering or Business students - @TomSrOfBoston would you have any idea? Is it recommended for us to enquire about the amount? Thanks so much to all of you for sharing your experiences and good luck to all!

@parentscc

Merit is a bit of a black box, but it won’t be able to be bumped up by inquiring. Merit isn’t distributed by college as far as I’ve ever seen or am aware of in the past 5 years of admissions. It’s a holistic process with many variables, so it’s hard to say why one student got X merit and another 2X.

As for Naviance, Northeastern’s admissions have become increasingly competitive pretty rapidly over the past really 20 years, but even a notable difference in the last 4. No Naviance update can fix that unfortunately, though the more recent the data is capped to the better obviously.

Good luck to your daughter!

Thank you @PengsPhils

Does anybody know approximately when RD decisions will come out?

@mjmthesecond Mid-March

I got an email from the College of Science saying a faculty member would call me soon. Has anyone gotten a call yet?

@sonicflowers Yes I received a vm while I was at school.

Did y’all email in your letter of continued interest or put it in the portal? I emailed asking what I should do Wednesday but they haven’t gotten back to me.

My D had not sent her letter yet - waiting on mid year grades next week.

Accepted to D’Amore Mckim Honors college with 30k/year scholarship! Stats: 1550, 4.6 W, 3.9 UW, sorry for the lateeee post but I was wondering if there was an accepted students group on fb or anything?
