<p>could anyone clarify this for me? I need to send in the CSS to Stanford by Nov 15.</p>

<p>My parents are dabating whether to fill it out since we're most likely not gonna get any need based aid. However, even if we don't get any grants we want to get federal loans like the Stafford, etc and we're wondering if the only way to get those loans is through FAFSA/CSS.</p>

<p>Do we still use the CSS and FAFSA to get JUST fed loans? I don't want them to think we're greedy by trying to steal need based aid from the more needy or anything.</p>

<p>FAFSA is from the government; it calculates your EFC and determines if you're going to receive aid from the government (Pell grant, I believe). The CSS Profile is mostly for private schools because it's institutional.</p>
