Does anyone actually understand what’s the big deal with the No Barrier program? I looked on the website about this, it seems it’s just no app fee and no loans. But I am confused here as I recall during one of the UChicago’s info session this summer the AO mentioned those are part of the fin aid deal, ie, I don’t get what’s new here. Plus correct me if I am wrong, isn’t no app fee for low income and no loans are pretty standard offerings for the top 20 schools (except UPenn maybe?)?

Short answer, No.

The no loan is pretty big. Only a few schools (Princeton was the first) offer it among so-called T20. Plus it eliminates the work-study program so that a student does not need to work during school. Plus guaranteed paid internship. Plus increased merit scholarships, etc.

If a student does not apply for Fin Aid it may not be a big deal though.

So if i missed the EA deadline, i can start and finish my app by the 15th and be considered under EA?

@Weekend yeah basically

god bless UChicago

So is it 12AM Nov 15th or 11:59PM Nov 15th??

@skieurope

11:59
