MIT said it will be lenient with the deadline because of Hurricane Sandy. When exactly is the application due, though? I don't see the actual date anywhere.

It’s due November 1st, this Thursday. You should still do your best to get your part of the application in on time. I interpret this as meaning that if you have a power outage, you shouldn’t endanger yourself by going out in the storm to search for Internet to get your application in. If you don’t have a power outage and you don’t have to evacuate, I wouldn’t turn it in more than a few minutes late. Good luck.

Here’s the official word:

Deadline flexibility: If you have been affected by the storm, for example with power outages or school closings, know that we will be flexible about receiving your materials past the November 1 Early Action deadline. The same goes for materials submitted by your teachers, counselor, and interviewer. We aren’t going to let a hurricane get in the way of us meeting some great students!

We hope that your family is safe and well after Sandy’s not-so-pleasant visit. Our best wishes go out to all those impacted by the storm.
