Are EA decisions mailed December 15 or received by then?

While I knew that was a dishonest post title from the start, other less informed applicants may not. Shame on you.

Sorry, LSA
But what about the decisions date?

Mailed, you idiot.

i know that you f------ dumb a--. The original question was on what date Are they mailed or received by Dec 15?

"Are EA decisions mailed December 15 or received by then?"

And I answered mailed....but I wouldn't worry about getting an acceptance letter. You don't seem to absorb much.

man, chill guys! streetlight is right, they are mailed on Dec. 15.

hahahhahahaha chillax. although streetlights last post was funny.

I hear that your EC might call/email you with your decision before you get it in the mail. Any truth to that?

Here's what happened last year (according to what the CC posters said). The mail was delayed (I think it was a snowstorm). So after several days some kids still didn't have their decision. Some alum groups were hosting parties for the accepted students in certain cities, and the EC's in those cities emailed their interviewees to tell them about the party. So they found out that way. Also, some EC's did call their interviewees to congratulate them, and that's when they found out.

My son finally had to call on the 24th to find out, and his letter came that day.

With two weeks left, I don't really see the point of them calling/emailing you to let you know just a few days early? It seems like a waste of time on their part, but hey it's only my opinion...

over30 is right. I don't think they intend to call "early", but last year's storm delayed the mail, so many calls/emails came beforehand...

That's awesome. I'd love to talk to my EC :)

Oohh, it'd be awesome to hear that I got accepted from my EC. :D

IIRC, ECs find out accept/defer/deny on the day stuff is mailed...

(I read that on the old cc last year sometime)

That's interesting. So if I asked my EC on the 15th, could he tell me?

if he'll tell you? it could be different this year also

I'm not sure the EC's know on the 15th; I think they get an email several days later. And I don't think you should call your EC. It's obvious that although MIT could let you know through an email or have you log on and find out online (as many schools do), they want to send your decision in the mail.

trust me, there is nothing as gratifying as opening your mailbox and seeing a big envelope with MIT on it. As stressed out as I was that week waiting for it, I wouldnt have wanted to find out any other way.

I don't have a mailbox, darn it. I have to go pick it up downtown. :(
