EA decision question

lol, I heard that same story on the fb page. I wonder… lolz

Congrats to you as well!! I’m super happy. All that’s left is…Emerson give me some money!!!

anybody know when scholarship information comes out tomorrow?

Scholarship notifications for those accepted for early action are available now (started at 11am ET) in the Application Portal.

I got no scholarship money at all, I probably can’t go now. I have never been so crushed :’(

I am flabbergasted to have gotten into the honors program. I feel so blessed. Thank you, Emerson! Now I just have to work up the rest of the funds…

Got no money from Emerson :(.

Honors program I can’t believe it :O

To everyone who got into Honors EA, can you post some stats? My D was deferred on decision 'til April 1 and we thought she was a strong candidate…now we have to go through auditions, etc at backups. They won’t say how many honors slots they filled EA. Still first choice but in terms of money and academics this really set us back… :(

I got nothing as well. I have an A average and 1800 SAT.
I’m so upset.

Sure!
SAT I: 1900 (650 CR, 600 M, 650 W)
SAT II: N/A
ACT: 30
GPA: Not completely sure on this one, I think it’s 4.0 UW
AP: 5 on English Composition, 3 on US History, am also taking 5 other APs
IB: N/A
ECs: VP Student Body, VP Beta Club, State Beta Club VP Candidate, VP Political Group, Drum Major, 3 years of plays and one act (2x region winners, 2x 3rd in state), district honors chorus, internship at radio station, attended GSPA journalism academy, conclave youth leadership seminars, gordon county youth leadership program, PR director for drama club, thespian society, National Honors Society, and various mission trips to large cities (Philadelphia, New Orleans, Charleston…)

I thought might test scores weren’t up to it, but don’t lose hope. My only guess is that they liked my essays, transcript, and perhaps divine intervention.

I got honors - super excited!

Here are my stats:
SAT I: 2060 (710 CR, 640 M, 710 W)
SAT II: 710 lit, didn’t submit
GPA: 4.0 UW, all honors classes
No APs

Essays: Writing sample was a research paper on Carl Jung’s theory of genderbending. Honors essay was about a camp experience

Hope this helps!

@thtre12 I’m really sorry about your daughter :frowning: best of luck to her with RD and everything else in the future

GPA: Not exactly sure, something like a 3.9 out of 4.5?
ACT: 30
AP: 5 on an ap foreign language test, currently taking 3 aps
ECS: 4 years of volunteering, 2 years of yearbook (co-editor), radio, pres of photography club, honor societies, media internship, co-founded a music website
Writing Sample was a research paper on suffrage and the honors essay was about a film changing my perspective on family

Is there such thing a polite “no” from the honors program or does everyone that was not accepted in the early round deferred?

Good question - kinda curious as well…my D was deferred for honors…wondering also if that means there won’t be any other other scholarships in the offing. We were holding back all other apps but now sending out just in case…she doesn’t want to be anywhere else but Emerson.

Honestly, what we found confusing was that we originally understood that most decisions would be April. Then it was “announced” that EA apps would get “scholarship decisions” Dec. 21. So we thought we would know yea or nay and how to proceed. So I wish they had not set us up for that frustration. Don’t get me wrong, I’m very, very pleased that she did not get a “no.” It’s been helpful to see stats from the honors accepted (thanks so much and congrats to all of you!). The one common thread I see is that all had higher test scores than my D (she fell very near their “typical” score combo). Everything else she has on record is pretty solid and unique. I’d hoped an interdisciplinary program would not weigh scores more than gpa and breadth of study and experience, but if it is the case it just may not be the program for her and she’s ok with that.
good luck to all the other deferred!

I just learned that Emerson probably considered my 2030 SAT I for the honors program instead of the initial 1900 I thought. Hope this still helps!

Yay! Dean’s scholarship ($14,000 per year) AND a fun hat!

Did anyone get the actual financial aid package yet? I’m a spring transfer student, and I’m supposed to respond in a couple days, but I can’t without actually seeing how much I’m supposed to pay…

Also, congrats to everyone else here!

Any thoughts/experiences out there: over 4.0gpa D in Independent schools her whole life who has felt challenged - no easy A’s. If she doesn’t get honors is BU a better academic fit?
