is the first word of the acceptance letter “congratulations” or something different?

Accepted to SFS.

2340 SAT and high stats in other departments (6 AP fives, multiple 800s on SAT IIs.) Solid essays, good recs.

I was fairly optimistic about my admission, but the news was still incredibly exciting. No decision made about enrollment yet but SFS is one of my top choices.

Did anyone else get an email acceptance!!! Because I got one from the “chairperson for the Central New Jersey Georgetown Alumni Admissions Program”…

Granted, I go to a boarding school and our mail room is closed on the weekend, so I haven’t had the chance to look at my mailbox yet. But did anyone else who got accepted get an email from a chairperson for the Georgetown Alumni Admissions Program??? Or is this some glitch in the system?

Are scholarships included in your letters? Any merit money?

I got an email from my Regional Alumni Chairperson, but that was several hours after the mail came. It wasn’t an acceptance email… they were congratulating me.

I don’t recall anything about scholarships, but now that I think about it, I only read the deposit amount, and not the rest of it.

@malaise Yeah, that’s what I meant - more of a “congratulations” email than an acceptance one. I haven’t had the opportunity to check my mail yet (see above) so this email was my first notification of acceptance. Thanks!

Sorry, yeah, just confirming - you know how some people get when they realize there’s a “glitch” or something. But congratulations, lucky that you didn’t have to wait to get into your mailbox!

Accepted to college

2240 SAT1, 103.5 GPA weighted
SAT2: 800 Literature, 740 World History, 600 Spanish, 630 Math 2

Im from NY and received my letter yesterday, really wasn’t expecting this seeing as I was never offered an interview and my SAT 2s weren’t the best. Good luck to everyone!

accepted to sfs!

2300 (780cr/770m/750wr)
800 chinese/800 math2/780 ush/750 chem
3.86 UW gpa

int’l applicant; received by email

Accepted to college!
SAT: 2390 (800M, 800CR, 790W)
SATII: 800 Math II, 800 Chem, 720 Physics, 660 French
GPA: 4.26 weighted

Really excited and did not expect to make it! Congrats to everyone else who was accepted!

If the mail isn’t coming until Monday and we did not yet get a congratulatory email does that mean we’re deffered…?

@cornell18 I’m wondering the same thing that’d be a pretty disappointing way to find out…

Right! But if the emails are coming from state alumni associations isn’t it possible that some states just don’t have them? Did anyone who got accepted NOT get an email?

I’m guessing Gtown either doesn’t give the lists to the alumni associations until it knows the mail has arrived or that they’re embargoed until then.

The only person who should read anything into that congratulatory email is the NJ boarding school student who received it. Georgetown has been handling their admission process exactly the same way for years now. They know where the letters are likely to have landed geographically at this point and the practice of sending out a congratulatory email could well be specific to this regional New Jersey rep.

okay so I’m super confused. We’re supposed to hear back today, but most people got their decisions in the mail? And some people got emails from Alumni chairs and whatever. If we haven’t heard back - should we assume something?
