Hello my lovelies,
It's almost time for EA decisions to be released, and I just wanted to put my mod hat firmly over my ears and release a little public service announcement.

First, I want to wish everyone the best of all possible luck. (I'm a scientist, so I don't really believe in luck, but sometimes it sure does seem to work wonders for my experiments.) I will open the decisions thread on Thursday evening right before decisions are released, and I know I'll be sitting at my computer all night like I do every year, cheering every time I see someone accepted. (So please come and post your decisions quickly! I'm sitting there worrying about you!)

Second, I want to remind everyone that your MIT decision is not a referendum on your personal awesomeness. If you are deferred, as most of you will be, you should remember that in past years, approximately equal numbers of EA applicants are admitted RD as EA, and you should start thinking about whether there's anything you can send to make your application even stronger and more competitive for RD.

Third, please remember that if your decision isn't what you wanted, you can absolutely be disappointed, and you can express your disappointment here. But if you type out some epic rant, take a second to pause and think whether you really want to post it. I fully support sadness and disappointment, but I do not support any of you acting like entitled snotbags.

So get excited! Thursday at 9 PM will be here soon.

Oh believe me, I’ve paused and thought about my epic rant. Heck, I’ve spent more time writing and editing it than my application essays.

…

“MIT is a big jerk who’s stupid and his big ugly face is as dumb as a butt!”

Yep, anything less than an EA acceptance with a full ride and 20k/yr stipend is gunna open a whole Pandora’s Box of super witty insults. That one’s just the tip of the iceberg, baby.

Good luck to all!
I, much like Mollie, shall be sitting here glued to my screen refreshing the page every 5 seconds (seriously, the refresh thing has to get off the net, pages should be auto-updated) to see the acceptances.

I have been following several MIT threads since I sent my EA application to MIT, but never intended to open an account for posting any message. I just did so mainly to appreciate and thank both Chris and Mollie for their contributions to us by keeping us informed of the status on almost on a daily basis throughout the evaluation period. Secondly, during their busiest time of the year, both Chris and Mollie took time to answer almost all the questions they received from the applicants. The very first message of this thread from Mollie on how to react based on three possible outcomes is truly inspiring.

Thank you again both Chris and Mollie for your time and contributions. Very few admission counselors from other colleges do so.

Just to remind everybody, because I want to be perfectly clear: Chris is the only professional and actual voice of authority around here. I am just an alum and former blogger. :)

after reading the MIT admissions blog and seeing Mollie and Chris here on CC, every other colleges admissions department feels so cold. Thank you to you two and everyone at the blog for making the process as enjoyable as possible.

Seeing as decisions don’t come out until 9pm eastern time tomorrow, do you think admissions has finalized all their ea decisions yet?

You two are truly irreplaceable! Thank you so much for all the help over the past few months. No matter how my result turns out, I will always be thankful for all you have done for this forum.

I, too, would like to chime in with everyone else in thanking Mollie and Chris for being so helpful and timely with their responses. THANK YOU! :)

Yes, thank you guys so much! You’ve been so helpful over the past months and have been so comforting and warm, it’s been a great experience. Thank you both so much and trust me, your work has not gone in vain. You both do an amazing job!
