EA Decisions Countdown

As soon as anyone finds out when the EA decisions are going to be mailed out, post it here!
Good luck to all who applied

:)

I am excited for results!

Does anyone know when decisions were released in previous years?
And will we receive an email or is it through snail mail?

Two years ago, they were mailed December 12. I’m sure you’ll hear by the 15th.

23 days!!!

Really, don’t think about it. You’ll end up killing yourself :P. Ideally, receiving the acceptance/rejection letter should be a surprise.

lol half the fun is the anticipation :)

I’m currently a freshman at Caltech and it’s hard! I got my acceptance letter from Regular Decision, which I didn’t expect. Just remember that even if you don’t get in, to not feel too bad because Caltech rejects a lot of brilliant prospective students. You’ll get in somewhere eventually (getting in nowhere is really rare unless you apply to Stanford or Harvard only without any backup schools) and just remember to enjoy your last year of high school, because now I wish I was still on my senior year courses (caltech core is kicking my butt =[).
But other than that Good luck to all and I hope to see you all at Prefrosh Weekend!

9 Days! SINGLE DIGITS!!! … i can’t help but get too anxious

Well apparently they were mailed on the 9th last year and emailed on the 13th, so maybe even less than 9 days. :p

But last year there was also a blog post announcing the mailing date on the 5th, which was yesterday, so I guess this year’s will be a little later than the 9th…

hmm
someone should start a results thread

I don’t think we need a results thread until results actually come out. We’d probably just clutter it.

^we definitely would

I’m currently a freshmen at Caltech too, and I also got in Regular Decision unexpectedly. The coursework here is definitely doable if you put in enough effort, and the school is WAY more laid back that you’d think. At the moment it’s finals week and there’s still time to goof around.

Just to let you know though, the finals are insanely hard here, at least whilst you are on pass/fail and dislike proofs. :)

does anyone know if we get our letters BY the 15th, or are they sent out on the 15th?

I dunno… Last year they posted a blog entry on the 5th saying they would send out decisions on the 9th, and another blog entry on the 9th saying they sent out the decisions. So far there have been no such blog entries. I’m wondering if there are a zillion more applications this year, or maybe they’re just sending them sometime before the 15th and making it a surprise. Hopefully the latter–I like surprises.

a new post on the Caltech Forum says that they will only email decisions this year, no snail mail, by the 15th…

Whether that means anytime before 15th or ON the 15th is still to be confirmed :/

This was in another forum

[Decisions, Decisions! - Caltech](http://caltech.typepad.com/caltech_as_it_happens/2009/12/decisions-decisions.html)

*Beginning this reading cycle, rather than send our usual letter notifications, we will be informing all Early Action applicants of our decisions via e-mail. We anticipate sending them out, barring any technical complications, this Saturday, December 12, by 12 noon PST. We’ve decided to do this so all applicants will receive their notices at the same time. Sending out letters created a lot of anxiety as some people received their decisions from one to several days before others, and this was tough as we have applicants from all over the world. *

it’s weird that this forum is not really freaking out about the due date. Although I didn’t apply early, I’ll freak out for you.
