EA decisions from Rhodes

I did not get a call about scholarship, so wonder if this means I am not getting merit aid. So sad. But congrats to you Pandamic!!!

Congrats to all!

My son got deferred. The letter said that since he didn’t show enough interest in the college he was deferred. If he can visit the college before Mar 1st, they would consider his application favorably for the regular decision. We were planning to visit after he got the admission. I guess showing some interest is key especially with small colleges.

I used the net calculator ( there is no way that my S qualifies for need based aid) and even putting in the correct amounts the final sum award was $15,000 grant and $5,000 loan with an out of pocket of approx $ 29,500! These are rounded numbers but do these figures sound correct with a 3.4 ( removing electives) GPA an ACT of 30, very good EC’s and recs?

Finally, the big envelope came today! It was a very nice touch that they personalized the letter. Do they do this for everyone?

EagerStudent–I don’t think that that lack of a telephone call is indicative that an applicant will receive no merit aid. My son met with an admissions representative who told him that he would be likely to receive merit aid (and estimated the amount). Since then, my son raised his ACT score from a 33 to a 35 and visited Rhodes.

I hope your right Scholade. Your son is a good candidate for the top scholarship. Maybe we will both end up at Rhodes!!!

Finally got DS’ ACCEPTANCE letter :)

He did not visit or interview. He did get on the mailing list in 11th grade and send SAT scores in November of 11th grade (guess that should interest). Also sent an e-mail or two this summer.

Stats:
34 ACT
1480/2100 SAT - 2130 superscore
SAT Math 2 = 670; US History = 710
3.064 UW; 4.07 W
4 APs by 11th; 2 more in 12th grade

Waiting on merit before finalizing visit. Hoping to visit in late March.

I received my acceptance envelope a few weeks ago, and I am being recruited for Track and Field. The coach told me that financial aid awards should be coming out as early as this week, but more likely throughout the next two or three, depending on the volume.

I have an 89% GPA on a 100% scale, where a 92 is a 4.0
My ACT was a 28, I don’t test terribly well.
Two AP Classes last year, one more AP this year.
Multiple honors courses, and very involved in politics (Worked on campaigns, served as an election judge)
Did the visit and Admissions loved me, so did the coaches.

It’s really between Rhodes and Hendrix at this point. Right now they’re about even on my interest level, so it’s really based on which will give me a little more money. Good luck to all who are waiting for the financial aid packages to come in the mail!
