Thanks. We are waiting for Bentley's financial aid package, as well as some from the others. The waiting is driving us crazy.

According to US News & World Report, the way they do their rankings is based upon the highest degree awarded by the college or university.

Since Bentley has announced that they will start awarding PhDs in the Fall, that means they no longer fall under the "Masters' College" listings, but instead will compete against others on the "National University" listing.

Assuming the peer ratings are arrived at the same way (that is, for both lists), Bentley's current 3.4 ranking puts them up in the #60 range or so for National Universities. Now that will change based upon all the other factors (graduation rates, alumni giving, etc.), but still #60 would be my first guess for where they will end up. It could be slightly higher or lower.

In response to the person who pointed out that Villanova offers PhDs. Well, yes they offer PhDs--but in exactly two fields only--Law and Nursing--not exactly what I would call across the board. (what degrees they offer can be checked through their website, which I just reconfirmed)

Bentley has stated that they will be offering PhDs in all academic areas--with the focus once again on the business area

Calcruzer....good point. I had a bad set of assumptions around Villanova. It would be interesting to see where Bentley would fall in the list if they were listed nationally.

I am not sure when the first PhD will actually be granted so it might not be an immediate change in listing. Bentley is only granting PhD's in Business and Accounting.

Well, my son just got an acceptance letter from Bentley today--congratulations to him--so we're all looking forward to our planned trip to Boston in early April.

Unfortunately, we booked to arrive there April 9th, which is the day after their open house--not realizing they had an event planned. We'll have to check out the cost to change our flights, since it would be a whole lot nicer to have a whole day at Bentley with a lot of planned programs than a one-hour tour with no planned programs.

Calcruzer, I agree I would put Bentley somewhere in the 50-60 range if it were to be placed on the national universities list.
