If you want your decision to look pretty you could use the following(formatting blatantly ripped off last year's thread, content from fizix/MIT forum). Just delete the spaces.

Axline ~ a full ride to Caltech. Awarded to either 5% or 1% of entering class. Sorry, I forgot exact number.
Lingle ~ a full ride plus $10,000 above it (I think). Awarded to top 1 (2) student(s) of entering class.

Those are merit scholarships, renewable for 3 more years. There is supposely only one Lingle for each entering class, which is $7500 on top of Axline. The top level of Axline also include the offer of pre-frosh SURF(summer research). In the past Mr. and Mrs. Lingle with come to campus every year, and the Lingles will joint them and the president for lunch.

I should note that such scholarships seem more likely to go to girls. At least, that's how it appears based on my sample, but Ben would probably know more.

Oh, and you people who will start receiving mail in the next 15 hours or so, be sure to list details of packages (i.e., size) for all of us here who aren't so fortunate to live .24246 nm from Caltech!

I doublt that gender is a consideration for those awards. There are some thing called Presidential award (I could be wrong) address minority and woman candidates.

Inverse has it exactly right re merit awards and gender. The Axline is completely gender blind and almost always the ratio is like the Caltech ratio. The Presidential Award is to attract applicants bringing diversity (once they have been admitted in the usual gender- and color-blind way) and women do certainly get consideration for that scholarship.

yeah why dont they? I mean they have the decisions, and i'm pretty sure (or at least i hope i'm sure) that they have fewer applicants. So wouldnt it be easier for everyone if they just posted them online?
