It doesn’t say Feb 7 on MyBentley. It’s under the admissions tab on the website [Freshman Applicants | Bentley University](http://www.bentley.edu/undergraduate/applying/freshman-applicants)

Looks like the class of 2018 is going to be very small

Why do you think the class of 2018 is going to be small?

A lot of people are going to choose other schools that they’ve already heard back from instead of Bentley. Waiting three months for a decision is a little long in my opinion.

On the twitter @ugabentley, they’ve been responding to people saying decisions will be released the 7th. So annoying!

This is so disappointing! These students worked so diligently to make sure they met all of the early action requirements and deadlines. Its a shame the university can’t meet their own notification date.

Bentley is my top choice and I’m getting so nervous. I’ve been checking like every hour and now they’ve changed it to the 7th !!! This is soooo disappointing.

I completely understand everyone’s disappointment in the delay - I’m really disappointed too. But seriously, for parents (or students) to be posting that “Bentley is going to lose their chance with my son/daughter (or the student) because their decisions take too long”…I mean, get over yourself. First, I doubt Bentley is losing any sleep over you - if they were your #1 choice, you’d have applied ED. They are one of a minority of schools that offers both ED and EA in addition to regular decision. Second, if anyone makes a decision regarding the next four years of your life because of a couple of weeks difference in the notification date - especially when your commitment to the school is not due until May, that is simply foolish and immature.

I see your point NYCMOMMA. But we as parents are not the ones going to college next year. Its our 17-18 years olds; bottom line, it is a really really poor impression that Bentley is projecting to these kids, and perception is indeed reality, especially when there are other really good schools with major money on the table and excellent courting / recruiting and communication skills. This delay. in my DUAGHTERS words is “amature hour and a clown show” . Again, I KNOW Bentley is awesome…just a major toe stubb here . And I feel decisions are indeed changing now

I’ll just assume the college admissions process has some people a bit tense? It can be stressful… :)

Bentley is not my son’s first choice, but he would definitely consider it if they offer him a Trustee scholarship. He has already heard from and was admitted to all of his other Early Action decisions - University of Pittsburgh, Northeastern (17k merit scholarship), PACE (27k merit scholarship) and SUNY Binghamton. PITT recently offered $250 in reimbursed travel expenses to come visit the school on a welcome day. It would seem that other more competitive schools are more interested in my son, so that will factor into his decision. The perfect “fit” is a school that wants you as much as you want them. I’d prefer my son go to a more competitive school that might actually “lose sleep” over him. I agree that it would be foolish to not consider a school because the decisions were delayed. Unfortunately, if Bentley wants the “best and brightest” this might not be the best way to court them. I would suggest that everyone give them the benefit of the doubt - perhaps they wanted to give as many decisions as possible and not simply “defer” tons of applicants because they did not have enough time to go through the applications. I heard that droves of students were deferred from Northeastern this year and that can be crushing. Most people would rather wait an extra week for a decision than be deferred and have to wait until April, so as I said for those who are really counting on Bentley - patience is a virtue!

They did not say they needed more time due to volume. They are blaming this on the common app and naviance according to the email they sent out. On twitter they said Feb 7th with a !, like they were excited they were announcing on that date. As an admission dept, i would not be proud to announce so much later than other schools. My disappointment with them, and I hope they read this board, is that they are 3-5 weeks later than all other schools. Their 1/31 date is one of the latest dates and in the past they have announced on 1/24, which is still very late for EA. A college is also a business, and the admission process is partially a sales force. The sales force is letting the school down with what could have been a great initial impression of the administration.

From what I have seen, all other schools announced in the same time frame this year that they have in the past. Nobody else is blaming technology. I feel they are not telling the whole story and blaming it on others doesn’t sit we’ll with me.

Is there frustration, yes. Will it impact our decision to attend, probably not. Have I lost some respect for them, yes. They knew people were targeting today, even though they promised 1/31, and that is why they emailed and posted on twitter today. If they had updated us earlier in the week it would not have felt as bad. They knew earlier in the week they would not make the 1/24 or the 1/31 dates. Shame on them for bad communications.

We received an email a few days ago that things were delayed until 2/7.

Just thought I’d share that I got accepted to UNH today. Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited. But I applied to UNH Regular Decision, and their app isn’t even due until mid-February… That should say something here.

They are the only school of 8 we applied to for EA to want the 1st marking period grades. That probably slows them down and is why late Jan is their original expected decision date. Personally, I don’t think they are needed and other schools don’t require them (or even want them). Although that can be the reason for the late notifications, I am still very disappointed in them to delay further until 2/7 - which is the release date so the in hand date will be 2/10 or later for most. I don’t believe they post the decision online.

Decisions are posted on line, and you will be sent an email telling you that you should log in to see your decision. I think the reason that they take longer than some other EA schools is that they evaluate the entire application.

Anyone else freaking out? What time do you think we’ll hear tomorrow?

I hope they don’t delay again

“you snooze you lose” Sent deposit into Lehigh yesterday. surprise 2 week delay a realy bad impression for us

If you couldn’t wait two more weeks to get your decision then you likely did not intend on going to Bentley anyway. Deposits for most schools are not due until May 1st so I’m not sure what the rush is. Regular decisions don’t come out until next month so most students are waiting for other decisions even after Bentley comes out tomorrow. I wouldn’t judge the whole school based on the admissions dept. needing more time to review applications. It’s funny how the applicants are happy when they get an extension on sending their applications due to storms or Common App problems but they are unhappy when the schools need more time to review the applications.

11 schools we applied to, using same common app, all figured out how to get this done. And as before…Im the Pop…Im not going to college…the end game is decided by an 17 year old mind who had Bentley in top 3, but has been expertly courted by other schools like BU, Lehigh, Canrnige…its important to them and do not discount how much this communication and recruitng matters. To me, not so mcuh. But Im not the one going to college
