EA decisions

Well, my son's app was in pretty early too, mailed on October 15. We'll see. I don't get why the ID page shows information for admitted students however. But thanks for the info.

engineering gal, would you mind posting your stats? thanks!

Casehopeful:
Sorry, I prefer not to post my stats.

But I can tell you one thing that might put you at ease, My SATs werent that high, my SAT2's were really good (esp for math), but everything else on my application was very strong including my essay, interview, and EC's. I've been focused on engineering by doing a couple of things.

I hope that helps, you'll know soon enough!

Teachermom and any others in this situation--I called Case today to ask them about the discrepancy between no status other than "under review" on the application status page and the admitted students information when you click on Activate Student ID. They basically said there was no relationship between the two--seeing the information page for Admitted Students doesn't mean anything (although I do think this is kind of misleading). As with engineering-gal, you will get a message on the application status page when they have a decision. I traded voice mails with the guy so I didn't get to ask the follow up, which is are decisions coming out on a rolling basis--I am thinking they are and will all be finished by January 1. Anyway, just fyi.

I read this thread and rushed to check my status page, which ended up the same as it was a month ago. It just says how my application is complete.

I then went to explore the link that goes to the "now that you've been accepted" page. That is a funny error. Humorous if we weren't waiting for an acceptance, but pretty stressful because we are.

Case is in my top three colleges. The head of the engineering program Dr. Prahl is a pretty amazing guy. For those of you interested in engineering, I encourage you to e-mail him or meet with him (or at the very least read his bio).

I would post my stats, but I have to go. Good luck to all of you who are biting your nails like me!

kyleguy90:
Thanks for the advice on Dr. Prahl, I'll certainly look him up. I was wondering if you visited case? I applied site unseen, and I'm really curious as to how much I will like it. I mean I've done all the possible research online and they're programs are stellar, and that's my main reason for applying. But as far as student life I've heard some mixed reviews.

Just curious, what are the other two schools in your top 3?

I got accepted to CWRU!

When did you have all your stuff sent in by? I had it all in sometime in October, so I hope I'll find out pretty soon here.

I’m IN!!

Out of State (NJ)
GPA - 3.5 UW.
Rank – Around the top 15% level.
SAT = 1340/1600 and 1970/2400.
SAT II – Math II (720), Physics (710), Chemistry (710)
ACT = Composite of 31 (32 if they super score) on two separate tests with highs of 35 on the Science section and 33 on the Math Section. Lowest score was a 29 on the English section.

Did anyone get financial information with that? Or do we wait for the actual mailed packet?

I'm so jealous of everyone who knows already

i just got a call from my admissions counselor today...they said ill get a decision in 7-10 days

I got a call from my admissions counselor...but no news when I'll here my decision. The suspense is killing me!

Engineering-gal:
I did visit the campus. It is really gorgeous. Their upperclassmen dorms are stunning. Not only are they nice inside, but they are right next to the sports field (like you could watch from your room). I thought that was cool. It felt smaller than the rest of the schools I visited. Our tour guide said "hi" to like 30 people he knew over the course of the tour. I ate at one of their food courts. I would give it a check plus. I'm not very picky, but still...

As for the "mixed reviews" you have heard, I do have some insight. The directions that Case gives you when you visit takes you through a very very affluent part of town. The departing directions also take you through that part of town. If you followed their directions, you would think Cleveland was wealthy. When we were leaving campus, my mother and I got lost because our TomTom was confusing us. Low and behold, we were in a very very not affluent part of town (right off campus). The absolute polar opposite from what we had seen on our way in.
However, I believe Case knows of its "mixed reviews" because my tour guide spent a good five minutes talking about campus safety. This included security cameras, a blue light system and an on-campus hospital. He said that the last time that the blue light system was used was 4 years ago when someone walking home from the city (alone) at 2 AM (alone) had their wallet stolen.
I hope that insight helps.

As for my other top two: U Miami Florida and Lehigh

The thing is, I have applied to 8 schools, all of which I would go to without hesitation. These three still stick out in my mind.

Feel free to ask me more questions :-)

I would agree about the upper class dorms--although you don't see them on the tour (at least we didn't), they have pictures of them and they are probably just about the nicest dorms I've seen (and I've been to lots of colleges!). They are suites with singles and a common room. It's interesting because Carnegie Mellon has a similar deal with upper class dorms right next to the sports field. Freshman dorms were pretty standard I thought, but all in a cluster so there would be plenty of people around. We also went to the section of campus where the sophomores predominantly live and that seemed fine too.

Also the area adjacent to the campus is where all of the museums are, symphony hall is part of the Case campus. The Cleveland Institute of Music is right there.

Overall, I thought it was a nice campus for an urban school. Plenty of green space, not just tall buildings on city streets. Also, the school has two cool unique features--one is a way you can log onto the web to see where the campus bus is and how far from your stop, and also the washers and dryers are set up to email you when your laundry is done.

"the washers and dryers are set up to email you when your laundry is done."

wow really? that's amazingly convenient

That's what they told us on the tour....

yep, Case uses eSuds.net - it tells you how much time is left on each washer and dryer. I like it because I don't have to drag my laundry down just to find out there isn't a washer available...also nice when you forgot what time you put your laundry in and are wondering if it's done yet. I don't know anyone who actually uses the email notifications, but you can have it email you when your laundry is done (or when a machine becomes available). Another great laundry feature is that you can use your Case Cash (on your Case ID) to pay for laundry - no need to lug quarters around anymore!

I still haven't found out yet.... boo

I haven't either
