will be calling admissions today.

In what could be a cruel hoax she got a postcard inviting her to a hospitality night - Elon will be in the area in January. All student who are interested, applied or accepted are invited...............would they send this out to a reject??? Oh - the thought of it.

oh well she has 4 acceptances in the bag - it was her first choice though.

OK so apparently this is a common problem. I called the help desk. password is reset and I texted it to her. waiting for her to check at school today.

I still want to go to Chapel Hill more, I believe, but this is very reassuring.

Hope everyone else is enjoying the good news!

Daughter also got her email notification this morning. She also received the Presidential scholarship. Now on to the Fellows application! She needs to write that essay, hopefully this weekend.

still really proud of him.

on another note:
nydancemom-
you should be so proud of your D for keeping up dance for so long. A lot of girls quit in middle school because of the time commitment/body image/etc.

ANTIELON1 -- You certainly don't stink! You sound like one very successful and smart young man! You are going to have an array of college choices ... try not to be discouraged but some of the acceptances and rejections these days simply do not make any sense. There are TONS of very talented and smart kids being rejected for no apparent reason all over the country. While this one is a hard pill to swallow because it was your top choice, I'm sure you will have some other nice choices. Sometimes these things happen for a very good reason that you can't know just yet. In the absolute worst case scenario, work your tail off your freshman year at another school, get really good grades and transfer. There are ALWAYS other ways to skin the cat.

With your background, you will surely have some great options ahead of you not only for college but for life.

Newbie is so very right -- however rejection still hurts.

NYDancer -- will your daughter continue dancing at Elon? I have a dancer who has been admitted to the university and considering auditioning. Are there any artistic scholarships for dancers?

DONHO
Yes D would continue dancing, but not as a dance major. She would do the minor in dance and just take as many dance classes as she could as electives. She applied as undecided, but will most likely end up as psychology and/or East Asian studies major. Older D is a current freshman at Elon in Music Theatre and is also a dancer. She has been able to continue dancing--took four dance classes this first semester, so 12 hours per week, in addition to all her other calsses (20 credit hours). She loves everything about Elon. Her sister is not a theater person, but loves to dance. We know the dance training is excellent.
I don't think there are any dance scholarships. I looked on the website and didn't see anything.

ANTIELON1, don't give up. Many students don't know this, but at many schools you can appeal a decision after being denied. Talk to your high school counselor about it and call your regional admissions representative. You may have to write another essay, but if it's your top choice it's worth looking into. Good luck.

D was admitted EA with 660 M 640 R and 750 W. Top 5% of her class and a million activitites. Elon is her backup. After reading about the kids who were NOT admitted... whew. They seem as though they were much more selective than in previous years. Still waiting for Kenyon and Oberlin, but their dates are not until April.

Anyone here looking at Elon's fellows program? Not sure D would go to Elon not in the program. Thoughts?

D admitted with presidential scholarship of $4000.

SAT:640CR, 670M, 630W
GPA: 3.6 unweighted, no rank.
international student.
bilingual IB diploma candidate.
led volunteer team to build wells in rural Cambodia.
field hockey (3yr) and soccer (3yr).

She is a bit upset after being deferred at BC, but Elon was her first choice anyway so she is very excited.

i'm shocked that elon has gotten so competitive. i got in with a presidential scholarship. 4.06 weighted gpa, 780 cr 620 m 760 w (1400/2160) congrats to all who got in :)
