Monday the 19th happens to be a national holiday: No mail delivery; sorry to burst your bubbles....

The admissions rep from our area (CT) called my D on Tuesday and told her she was accepted and information will be in the mail soon.

That's strange. They make it clear both in-person and on their website that admissions decisions are NOT delivered over the phone -- only by U.S. Mail. Is there some sort of exception?

D said kid at school got phone call...and at least 3 people on facebook. I don't expect D to get in so I'll totally assume its a prank if anyone calls and says they're from BU...

athlete friend got the letter (ig packet btw) today. decisions are out for some it appears.

I am willing to bet that out of state applicants that were accepted received a phone call in order to encourage them to attend Binghamton. For two reasons: Bing wants to increase representation from all states and the NY state could desperately use the OOS tuition money right about now. Think about it. If you were stuck between two schools and one called AND sent a letter to encourage you to attend as opposed to just sending a letter, you would definitely start considering the one that called simply because they are showing interest in you. And athletes, etc. get their stuff early as usual.

miktau- ig packet?? Does that mean it was a large envelope with the usual green and white border on it?? Or something else?

My daughter's classmate is instate, I'm not sure about his qualifications. You are right, all the facebook kids are OOS

Ehhh my theory is disproved. I do, however, believe that Binghamton would never call all 1,000 or more kids accepted EA. That is just too time consuming for their office. It would make sense if they called the OOS kids or maybe even the "special" majors but not everyone.

Large envelope said something to the effect of "your the one" on it. Hoping to get mine today, were instate btw.

Well, good luck. Are you an athlete?

what if you're an athlete but applied regular

If you are playing D1, you will unofficially know of your acceptance by the end of junior year/ early senior year. REGARDLESS.

No i'm not an athlete

I'm confused, in the Facebook group, a lot of people talk about getting calls... But the Bing website says
The admissions office will not post decisions online or notify you over the telephone.
They tell you they won't notify you over phone so you won't call them and ask if you got in or not....I guess most people will get notified by regular mail and some will get phone calls as well. A lot of colleges do give "good news" by phone calls thinking that is more personal and will induce the applicant to matriculate.

Ah ok. More waiting, and good luck everyone

I'm OOS and i've heard nothing.
Should I be worried as I never got a phone call? lol

Emp, I feel bad in saying this, but if I were you I would definitely be concerned. It seems like accepted OOS kids were notified by phone to encourage them to attend. Bing especially is looking to increase the number of OOS'ers to increase their reputation. And ALL SUNYS are looking for that extra boost in tuition money as well. Don't worry too much though and good luck.

haha. You're most likely rejected but don't worry that much!

ugh.
thanks for the reply though

^^sean: we are OOS, I know many students who have applied (including those who are VERY qualified to be accepted) and nobody has heard.....I think these phone calls are very specific, geopgraphically based.....I am not a Facebook participant, but if someone could post which states people have heard, you may see a pattern....probably very under-represented locations for Binghamton.....You are not going to hear by phone, for example, if you are from New Jersey.....too many applicants; too many acceptances to call all of them.....let us know if you can....

EMP: go on Facebook and see if there are any Florida responses; if not, don't worry.....yet
