Would anyone care to share the name of the scholarship? IE my s (class of 2007) got something called the Murchinson.

I forgot to add my congratulations to the other students.
ignatius--My son's merit scholarship is called the Murchison. I didn't even realize it had a name until you mentioned it. I had to look again.

I got the Murchison too, but it's only about half the cost of attendance....and yet my letter said it was the most prestigious award they offer. Does Trinity ever give out full tuition or full rides? Because if not, and if I don't get much need-based aid (and I doubt I will), my parents won't let me attend.

Our family is in the same spot, Tigerlily, no financial aid. I'm guessing that they don't give full tuition or full rides, since they call the Murchison their top award. I'd be glad to hear otherwise, though!

Did everyone get their financial awards with the acceptance letter? My son got the email yesterday, and the letter today, but there was no mention of money. He's been offered a sginificant amount of money at other private schools in Texas, so we're really surprised that there was absolutely nothing from Trinity. Any thoughts? We're planning to have him write the admissions office to ask, but I wanted to make sure the awards should have come with the admit letter.

My son's award was in the acceptance letter. You should call or write.

Was it part of the acceptance letter or a separate enclosure in the package? When my D was accepted 3 years ago, the award was a separate letter in the package, and also included Stafford loan, Plus loan etc. That's what makes me think something was left out, although I know Trinity is doing things differently now.

It was in the acceptance letter--2nd paragraph. 1st paragraph is "congratulations" and the 2nd is "we are pleased to offer."
hth

has any international EA II applicant heard from trinity??

cal0302: I have two who were accepted. One D didn't get any merit $ the other did. The one who received merit had an additional paragraph in her letter. My assumption is that if there is merit $ coming it would have said so in the letter. I share your disappointment if it works out to be nada on the merit. Hope it works out for you and yours anyway!

im an applicant from tw..and i got my acceptance mail a few days ago.
i was offered president's scholarship of 13000...

ya i agree their acceptance cover packet is really awesome!

congratulations tays! How likely are you to attend?

not very likely..
so i think i should call up trinity now and let them know so they can give my scholarship to someone else??

Sure- ask them to give to it my son, who didn't get a penny in merit aid, even though his stats are similar to others posted on this site. That's what's not fair about the system. Trinity is his number 1 choice by far, but he can't afford to go there. He'll be going to one of the other very similar schools who have offered 8 to 15K a year in aid.

Where/when do we get notification about FAFSA money? I got my package and merit aid, but all it said was that I'd receive a letter from the Fin Aid office. Is that what usually happens? Because according to this thread it seems that federal aid was included in the original package.

If it makes a difference, I'm a non-citizen applying from Canada

My DDs werre accept EA and haven't received their FA packages yet. I think the website says "by April 1" so look for it maybe this week. I don't know if the being an int. applicant has an effect or not. Good Luck!

Thanks, and ya i got it just before Apr 1 haha
ahh i really want to go to Trinity, but its still a bit expensive
