EA Deferred. Do I have a chance for RD?

I am an asian (indian) male.

Rank: 69/ 427 = 15% of class
GPA Weight = 4.3. Unweighted = 3.3
SAT: (2060 with 1360MV-- 690 Verbal, 670 Math, 700 Writing)
SAT II: 740 on World History, 780 in US History

All Honors, with one AP sophmore year: World History, one AP Junior year: US History, three APs senior year: Psychology, Calculus AB, English 12.

Out-of-state. From Tennessee. Positive teacher recommendation.

I was also Nationally Commended on the PSAT. However, UGA is asking for mid-year reports. My senior schedule:

Class Semester Avg.
Standard Art I : 100
AP Calculus AB 83
Honors Humanities 85
AP English 12 86
AP Pyschology 86

A = 93-100
B = 92-85
C = 84-75

Hmm, looks possible, but it depends on what they're doing this year. It suddenly got a lot harder for out-of-staters, but I think you have a good chance for RD. Doesn't look good for any scholarships though.

HP?

are u doing any extra curricular activities?? when we went to visit uga for school. they told us they dont want any students who are strictly academic. remember this is a school with some good sports. u better join the swim team or somethin.

Thanks, any other advice?

guess not. thanks anwyay

Wow--I'm suprised you were deffered. Gah your school's weight is HUGE. Your SATs are good, but yeah, Georgia is big on being well rounded. You definatley need to get that Calculus grade up, and you should let them know that your very interested in their school. Good luck, I think you'll get in.

Yeah they'll probably take you because they love us White Stationers. Besides, you're diverse and there is definitely a lack of Indians here.

A lot of White Stationers applied. I'm talking a good 10 to 15 students. Out of that group, I predict three seriously going (if they get in). From what I've also gathered, plenty of people from Memphis applied too. I've heard about 40 girls from Hutchison applying, tons from CBHS, MUS. How will that affect the application process? Do they isolate Memphis (or Tennessee) and judge applications compared to other Memphians (Tennessians) ?

Thanks for the help.

Whoa, that's insane, considering there are only...4 WSHS people here at the moment. Memphis people are also quite rare; I only know one other person in my class from Memphis. I think West TN is distinct from the rest of TN since there are a decent number of TN people here from the Nashville area. Unfortunately out-of-staters in general kinda get shafted because of pressure by the GA legislature (some of them actually want to abolish all OOS students in general!!!).

On another note, I'll be seeing the admissions staff a good deal over the next few days so I'll see if I can get a response to some of the concerns raised here.

Hey, do you have a screen name? We gotttta talk.

Only if you don't mind or aren't too busy.
