Our DD got into Dodge for Animation! Are there any other Animation Majors out there that got in? Also, if there are any parents of a Dodge animators ā Iād love to hear about your studentās experience at Chapman. THANKS!
DD got inā¦ thinking of Chapman vs U San Diego and SDSUā¦ what would you say is a typical Chapman student ? Realizing there is no such thing in actual terms but just in generalā¦ we have heard: more studious, less of a partier, likes academia and clubs, etc?
Vs SDSU would be more social focused, sports fans, parties, Greek lifeā¦ mildly true?
I do understand all kinds of kids can be found at each schoolā¦ my son went to UCSC and I can say there is a ātypeā so to speakā¦
Haters donāt come at me not from Cali so just trying to understand
TIA!
Following this. Also accepted at Chapman and waiting for USD and UCSD
The biggest difference between SDSU and the other two is sizeāit has more than 30K undergrads vs. 8,300 for Chapman and 5,700 or so for USD. Chapman, USD, Pepperdine and LMU did a couple of joint webinars that gave nice overviews of all the schools. I bet you can find the recording on YouTube or admissions will send you a link. USD is also Catholic while the other two arenāt. SDSU has gotten more academically competitive in recent years, but from what I understand is still very social (plus right near the beach.) Chapman has a Greek system, but no physical houses. All have great things to offerāit depends on what your kid wants. I bet if you do a visit, your child will have a clear favorite by the end of it. Of these three we only visited Chapman in person, and my son really liked it. Orange is adorable. Good luck!
By email, she received an invite to honors college that way as well.
Also She is in at LMU too.
Is anyone heading out to Chapman for Accepted students day on April 1?
Congrats @allisonhemming ! Our son was recently accepted to Dodgeās Film & Television Production major.
Chapman students and really the whole community are extremely nice. Everyone from Starbucks employees to registrars office to just students you ask for directions. The students seem genuinely happy and happy to be there. Being as you asked about stereotypes like greek, partiers, etc - the surprising thing weāve discovered after one semester is that my super artistic/somewhat alternative film production daughter who thought all her best friends would be creative people in Dodge has discovered her best friends are all different majors - Business, sociology, psychology, French. Itās all there and for all types but no matter what the stereotype is when you look at the person or what they are into, collectively I think chapman just fosters a nice environment.
Wow what a nice post. Thank you so much. We are headed to visit in a week or so and I canāt wait to experience it. My daughter isnāt the most social and I just hope she finds her footing wherever she lands. Thanks for taking the time to write - I really
appreciate it!! Chapman sounds like a wonderful place!
I didnāt hear it was April 1. Good to know!
if possible, Iāve been to several admitted students days and Chapman does theirs really well and makes it fun for both parents and students (they break them out separately for some things)
Good news! We will be there Feb 20 :)) thanks so much!
Hi! Do you mind sharing her stats?
