Is it customary to send in first quarter grades for EA or ED? Is it required for the usual top tier colleges?

add me to this thread!

NO, i think.

of your senior year? yes.. becuase if you mess up bad then they can revoke admissions

No. Unless for some reason your school sends them in. Most EA/ED schools don't require mid-year reports for admitted students. So if you get in to your EA/ED school, the only senior grades they'll see are final grades in May/June.

Mary:
I meant first quarter grades.

Anyone please confirm the above posters? This should be a big question for all early applicants, right?

No, they don't see your first quarter grades. Some schools ask for semester grades when the time comes and of course all schools get end of year grades.

Sorry for the confusion. What I meant was that they don't see first quarter grades unless for some reason your school sends them in. Many times, they don't see your mid-year grades, either. So the only senior grades your EA/ED college will ever see (assuming you are accepted) will be final grades. The above holds true for most, but not all, EA/ED schools.

Hopefully that made a little more sense.

i would say that if the 1st quarter grades help you and your high school will send them, then go ahead... i doubt that there is any college that will not look at grades even if they are not required!

Depends on the school. Some do like to see the 1st quarter grades (but have to keep in mind you are devoting tons of time to their app, ECs, and school so grades may slip but be picked up second quarter). Most do not want 1st quarter grades.

Yeah, it depends. The school I'm applying to requires them.
