If no decision has been received in 8-12 weeks for Early Action, does that mean the student will be deferred? We were hoping to get an answer before Christmas.
I know it can be so frustrating to just keep on waiting for a decision, when a college has “kind of” Rolling Admissions. We don’t know how they slice and dice the data and look at one pool of applicants at a time. They have certainly NOT looked at YOUR pool of candidates (sometimes it can be geography, demographics, major)… not necessarily that you are at the bottom of the list. Keep you spirits up in this Holiday Season and hopefully you will hear something positive soon! Remember they still have Jan 15th to give the decision by. BTW, DS is still waiting to hear back from Ohio State (in-state) when a lot of people have heard back for almost 2 months
They have to give an answer by January 15th, and no news right now is good news!! Be sure to keep checking the portal because many people never received an email that their status was updated, including myself. I heard back 12 weeks exactly from the date that MSU received all of my materials. Make sure to look at that date rather than the date you submitted just the application, I know there have been delays with transcripts if sent with Parchment (at least at my school). Best of luck! Happy holidays!
Our daughter finally got accepted on Christmas Eve despite applying fairly early so I would agree with your “no news is good news” comment. It’d be better to not hear anything at this point than to be deferred.
Hi guys, I found out I got into MSU today, the acceptance letter was pretty brief, there was no mention of any merit aid or scholarships, so is that because I didn’t get any or they don’t come until later on. Also apparently I just found out that MSU never got my FAFSA somehow even though I sent it I’m pretty sure, but I sent it now for sure, so will that affect anything regarding my aid since they will recieved my fafsa after I have been accepted, I’ll still recieve aid hopefully, right?
