EA Hopefuls 2017

They mailed the letters on a Thursday the last 2 years (the 15th last year and 16th the year before)… Think they’ll do it again this year, the 13th? Then hopefully the east coast would get it by Monday. I think I’m overthinking this though.

The “big envelope” is an acceptance packet. Deferral and denial are normal sized envelopes. My brother was deferred early action last year, but accepted regular decision so I know what both letters look like. I’m hoping to be accepted early action this year. Good luck to everyone else who applied!

Also, are people really emailing their regional counselors to find out when they should expect their letter?

oodl22, thanks for your sharing =)

I’m pretty sure they’ll mail today; that way they have tomorrow, a business day when lots of employees are on campus, to deal with any potential problems. They’ve mailed the Thursday of finals the last two years and I can’t imagine why they wouldn’t to the same this time around.

@Caro223 - I got it on the East Coast on Tuesday when they mailed it on Thursday my year. Expect something Tuesday (or Monday if you’re lucky and Wednesday if your mail carrier sucks).

The decisions were mailed today as per the ND Admissions Twitter feed.

Where on the east coast? I live in NJ, last year most people in my town got it Monday, but then my friend who always gets her mail a day late got it Tuesday.

South Jersey!

So how many early applicants do we think they are going to accept or defer? Also does anyone know if there was a rise in early application numbers this year, because I feel like there was?

Notre Dame Admissions said that EA decisions were sent out today

Curious, did anyone else do the essay “Why should you care about the rings of Saturn?” that was one of the options for #3?

I wrote about essay why I cared about the Rings of Saturn!

Also- I live in north NJ in a suburb of New York City so it might come earlier than a smaller town? I’m being optimistic for Monday because there’s nothing else I can do.

@tbo1123

I believe acceptance rate for Early Action is around 40-45%, and very few get deferred.

I wrote about the Rings of Saturn too!

Well at least the acceptance rate is higher than I thought it would be. I mean, I know a lot of the stronger applicants apply during early action so you have to take that into consideration too, but I think I can live with that rate.

@Aendos

what state do you live in? I live near DC, so about when should i get my letter?

My daughter is hoping to be accepted today!

Good luck to everybody!

I don’t know about anyone else who did this, but for question #3 on the supplement, I actually looked up the poem Un Mil Preguntas and chose a question to answer. Do you think this was okay? It never said we couldn’t so I assumed that we could choose any of the questions from the poem.

You weren’t supposed to do that

Well it said to “answer one of the author’s inquiries” so I took that as the freedom to choose one of any of the one thousand questions that the poem consisted of.

@musicclassic1515 I think that’s so fine and very creative. The wording of the question would certainly allow for that. Good luck!
