if I applied to Harvard EA, the dealine would be november 1st. However, I'm participating in a very prestigious language contest right now, but the finals will take place in late november. I'm an international and I was wondering whether I could sort of send more info to the adcoms even after the EA deadline, sort of to give them an update about my contest. Its a national contest and if I won it, I would elligible to become a member of the national gifted students foundation.
So I think that would boost my application. Just wondering though...

Really?? The thing is it'll probably take place on the 25th or later, and since the adcoms have to send back the decisions in december, they might already be done with my app bofore I send the update?

If you let them know early enough, they'll take another look. If you want to make extra sure they know about it, you could wait until RD, but I don't think that's wise. If they don't get to consider it with your EA application, then if you're rejected the contest wouldn't have been enough to get you admitted, if you're deferred they'll consider it when they review your application for RD and if you're accepted, then your application didn't need the boost anyway.

jason - i think it's kind of scary how you're asking everyone for specifics on what they're participating in. i already got a private message from you asking which organization supported my study aboard program. if you're trying to create your own resume by borrowing from others, i strongly suggest that you reconsider and try to find your own interests and specialties =) but if you're asking because you're curious about your competitors (or just those applying/interested in harvard in general) then i believe everyone wants at least anonymity especially in what they're participating in. also, if, you think i'm totally crazy and have you totally wrong, please excuse this message!

ooooooh wait, never mind. it wasn't you haha sorry. overextended pm mailbox >< REAAAAAAAAAAAALLLY REAAAAAAAAALLY SOOOOOOOORRY! totally my bad =) but um.. =p some advice in there still.

alright... I think I'm gonna let them know about the contest when I send the application... Then I'm just gonna call them if I happen to get one of the first places... The decisions r mailed before xmas right? Then there will still be 3 weeks for them to reconsider
