EA interview attire issue :(

Hellooooo fellow harvard applicants:)
as we all know, the interview is required for harvard admission..
as an early action applicant, i'm expecting my interviewer to
contact me within a few days and I was talking about it with
my parents.. well, clearly i've never had college admission interview
before, and I have no idea of what to wear for it.

i figured out that most people wear smart-casual or business casual,
but my parents "strongly" suggest me that I wear my school uniform.
(and yes, i go to a private school.)

would it be awkward if I wear my school uniform for the interview?

that was my question and I hope all CCers have a good night:)

Thank you!

Well...I'd recommend dressing nicely...kakis and a shirt or maybe pants and a shirt. I guess even a nice polo would do. It certainly doesn't have to be your school uniform.

would it be awkward if i wear my school uniform?
i actually like the idea.. but is it normal though?

I honestly don't know. I went to a public school and never wore an uniform in my life. For my interviews back in senior year, I just wore pants and a shirt.

I wore black slacks with a dresssy blouse to my Harvard interview.

The attire should be business casual. And wear something you are comfortable. Don't let the attire bother your speaking or body language.

Uniforms? What kind? There are different uniform styles. Personally, I wouldn't prefer wearing school uniforms to an interview especially if the interview takes place in a coffee shop or restuarant. However, if you are coming straight from a school activity and tight on time, you can wear your uniforms as long as you explain the situation to the interviewer if the interviewer glances at you weirdly or something.

Good luck...

the blazer is Burgundy lol and we have sailor top..
hahaha I guess I might just wear business casual..
come to think of seeing someone in my school's uniform
for the first time, it might be even funny lol

Thanks guys for great comments:)

Don't wear a school uniform, just dress professionally with at least a collared shirt and pants (not jeans) and you can wear a jacket and tie if you're comfortable with that.

I just wore a pair of Dockers pants along with a polo shirt. Although attire is important, remember that it's not everything. While I think that it's crucial to make a good first impression, remember it's what comes out of your mouth that's important, not the clothes on your body.

wear the uniform if its on a school day. they wont look down on you for wearing it... i wore mine to my interview

Oh CMON PEOPLE... A uniform would look lame. Try wearing sth smart and comfortable. Plus, it's not what u wear, it's what u say. And no, interviews are not required for admission. I had 4 people during the last 3 years that went to Harvard and the didn't get an interview.

I interview for Harvard. There's nothing wrong with wearing a school uniform if it's a school day. It would look rather odd on a weekend or holiday, but wearing one certainly wouldn't cause your interviewer to give you a low rating.

Realize that the interviewer is far more interested in what goes on in your head and what you contrbitue to society than whether you wear your uniform.

While a suit might display a certain lack of imagination, might it have an adverse effect on the interviewer (i.e. god, what a prick)?

Unless one dresses very bizarrely such wearing attire with naked women on it or with a swastica on it, the inteviewer will not be paying attention to your attire. What the interviewer will care about is what you do in the interview in terms of what you talk about and how you express yourself (Such as if you are hostile, are shy that you speak in monosyllables, express yourself in a conceited way, express racism, etc. Being a bit nervous is fine and is expected. Unless you become frozen in fear or burst into tears of anxiety, nervousness won't hurt you.)
