EA Legacies--the countdown!

If you're a legacy and applied EA, we get our letters early-- Dec 15!

Who else is in the same boat as me?

I think we all get our letters 12/15 if we applied EA, regardless of our parentage, right?

other EA applicants get their letters by 12/20. So legacies don’t get them much earlier, but when it gets towards the end of the wait, 5 days is a long time!

Sweet, I didn’t know we get our letters early.
My dad and grandpa both went to ND :)

The letter said we could call on the 18th if we haven’t received our decision yet, so that means we all get it earlier than that day I would imagine, so really it’s not that much earlier for legacies, if at all. : ) Maybe we should start a countdown for all EA applicants…

To my knowledge, all early applicants are notified at the same time. It doesn’t make any sense that they would discriminate by legacy (or by any factor for that matter); it would only mean more time to sort out applications for the admissions office, and I am sure they would not want that. 12/15 is the date for all early applicants, I believe. I may be wrong, of course, but it doesn’t seem realistic.

According to collegeboard Notre Dame will notify EA by December 20; I’m not sure if it affects anything, but just throwing that out there.

Either way I am already having an anxiety attack hahhah.

Some of collegeboard’s info is a little off, but maybe that means something.

As my letter said to call if I haven’t heard anything by Dec. 18, I’m sure we will all (legacy or otherwise) be hearing my Dec. 15th. I can’t imagine why ND Admissions would go to any efforts to purposely separate the legacy letters and mail them out a few days before, so I doubt that very much.

2483748374fnkjdngfkjfnbvfebbdfgbdgan. can’t wait. nervous, hopeful. merrr.

S, a freshman at ND was accepted EA - no legacy. His acceptance envelope arrived on Sat 12/15/07. My guess is that they are sent out approx 1 week prior to winter break, which is Dec 20th. So I would say start looking for the LARGE envelope about the 13th.

LARGE envelope (9x12) is what you hope for. It is a window envelope so if a parent would want to, they could shake the contents and see the “Congratulations” on the first line of the letter if they were to get to it before the student. That doesn’t count as snooping!

I believe last year there were approx 4,500 who applied EA and they accepted about 1,500 - don’t hold me to exact #'s but in the neighborhood. Balance of approx 500 accepted Reg. I was discouraged when I saw the #'s, and tried not to get my hopes up for S. My stomach churned for weeks! When he got accepted, we were thrilled. Now my stomach is churning trying to figure out how to pay for ND!

Good Luck to all of you!

My D (non-legacy) was told by admissions that EA decisions will be mailed on 12/11.
