EA Notification for the Class of 2018

It is time to start a thread sharing the early action notifications for the UMass class of 2018! My daughter is anxiously awaiting results from her application to the nursing program. Best of luck to all who have applied! Hopefully lots of good news will be appearing here shortly!

When are we supposed to find out?

My friend auditioned last week for the music program and one professor who also works in admissions said that they are aiming to get all the letters out by the end of the week so like past years, December 15th. Can’t wait :)

My S also auditioned last week and said the same thing. He was also told that he could call the music department on Thursday afternoon (tomorrow)and get an “unofficial” answer.

I am guessing no one has heard back yet so speculation is that it will be Friday?!

Will they be sent out on Friday or will people receive them on Friday?

Are decisions posted online and mailed?

He called music department and he is in :)

Do we get them on the 15th through email? Or do they send letters on the 15th to be received shortly after…?

SuperKent, I am wondering the same thing! No one seems to know how we find out…

Decisions will be posted on-line on the UMASS admissions site you hopefully have set up with your user name and password (https://www.spire.umass.edu). The site updates overnight so there is no need to check all day. From what is written on this thread, there may be decisions available tomorrow morning.

In the past the decisions have been sent in the mail and begin arriving on Saturday. They aren’t all sent at once.

Seems like the decision will be online since we can check our application status on there!

On the UMass Amherst website, it says decisions are released in mid-late December. As it turns out last year, from what I’ve read, decisions started being received December 15. That was just last year though. In the years before it’s apparently been as late as the 20th for early action applicants. I think decisions are supposed to be posted online (why else have the status checker, right?), but after reading some previous posts, apparently their system has been VERY slow. Basing my biases off of this, I imagine we’ll get our decisions in the mail before we see them posted online. Good luck to everyone that applied! I’m so anxious for a response. I’ve been checking my mailbox everyday, just incase!

Email:

I am happy to tell you that UMass Amhest began mailing Early Action decisions on Friday, December 13th. Decisions on complete applications will continue to be mailed through mid-January. We encourage you to log onto your SPIRE account to check the status of your application, which is updated daily. Please note that decisions may appear online before you receive a mail notification.

For questions about Early Action we encourage you to visit our Frequently Asked Questions page.

Thank you for your continued interest in the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and best of luck in your senior year.

Just saw that email! So excited! If they began mailing the letters today, I guess that we probably won’t be hearing back until the middle of next week? I wish they could have sent my letter home with my brother at UMass; I applied on 10/2 so it seems like it’s been forever!

OMG I got that email too!!! Does that mean I can find out today or am I freaking out for no reason?? I wish they told us the exact time and date :(

Can anyone verify if they got their decision yet?

Got the email, so nervous! I also applied to the nursing program

Got the email today late afternoon… Think they’ll be updating the portal at midnight?
