My D was admitted to the Isenberg school. Weighted GPA was 3.9 with SAT of 2030. Next step is to schedule a visit as soon as the portal is open. Looking forward to seeing the campus. Does anyone know if there is transportation to Boston’s South Station from the campus?

Do they update it at midnight?

Challanger:

There is a Peter Pan bus that runs right from campus to South Station. It costs about $25. Students can buy the tickets online or on campus. My daughter has taken the bus before and it is very convenient

Anyone get into sports management?

@ronboy not me but #180 did!
sports management is my top choice too, and im still waiting for the decision…
i heard mine is coming next week (they are going to send it this friday) though!

My son was accepted under early action last month. He applied for engineering as his first choice, undecided as second choice. He was accepted under undecided.

Attends top rated public school in CT. SAT - 560 CR, 680 WR, 680 Math = 1920. GPA 3.5. AP classes - AB Calc, Physics and Stats. So far his GPA so far for this year (his senior year) is 4.0.

Guidance Counselor called Admissions. Son has to pass some engineering classes freshman year before he can get into School of Engineering.

Anyone else receive an acceptance letter like this for Engineering?

My opinion: Every parent that I spoke with (about 5) we’re their child got accepted with the old back end deal of letting you enter as a different major or undecided were never accepted/transfer the second year.

I am not sure about UMASS Amherst so before you take that route I suggest you find a student at UMASS Amherst that followed the exact path above and get advice.

Id suggest picking a college where you are accepted or attempt a transfer later and use that as a last resort.

My daughter was accepted into engineering. Stats are 4.0 UW, ACT, 32, IB Diploma candidate. Maybe since she is female???

So we heard awhile ago that he was accepted into the music program BUT that is contingent on being accepted into the University. They have had his application and all of materials since the end of October. Very high GPA, SAT scores top 3% of class, boat load of AP classes, lots of extra curricular, etc
To me this is telling regarding the University. What is the point of early action if you don’t find out before regular decision applications are due?
UVM let him know in mid November that he was in and by late November that he was in the honors college - they have been continously sending positive emails inviting him and us to events, etc.

Anybody that was accepted hear about commonwealth honors?

I was accepted to commonwealth honors about 3 weeks ago

moodoo - Congratulations!
Was the invitation included in the acceptance letter? Was there anything on your SPIRE account indicating acceptance into honors?

…
Sorry didn’t mean to post that does anybody know how to delete a post in here?

@smorris231 I got one of those too! I have basically the exact same situation. I live in CT and applied for mechanical engineering. My second choice was mathematics, and I got a letter saying that I wasn’t accepted to engineering, but that I was for math. 3.45 GPA (I had a rocky first two years of high school), 590 reading, 690 writing, 720 math (2000 total). I got a pretty nice scholarship, but I was really hoping to get into engineering.

anyone still waiting for the decision?
(international student)

I’m still waiting for my decision! A lot of people I know already got their’s in December. This system of sending out decisions in waves isn’t the best idea considering they can just update Spire with our information.

What major did you apply for Lowell?

I agree that this system is inadequate compared to a majority of other colleges. I got my decision from Babson late November, WPI mid December, and I’m still waiting on Bentley and UMass. Almost none of my friends have heard, and we live in central MA!

@smorris231 - Same thing happened to my son last year (1980 SAT 720M 660CR 600W 3.3 GPA).

UMass was not his 1st choice but it would be foolish not to consider it with the instate lower costs. He had gotten into almost every other place he had applied to directly into the engineering program. FWIW his GC also advised him not to chance going to Umass and not being able to transfer into the engineering program, especially since he was admitted directly into engineering at other schools including his top choice.

He is now a freshman majoring in Mech Eng at UCONN (his top choice).

I applied for Computer Engineering, but all this news of applicants not being accepted into engineering is getting me worried. I really want to go to UMass!
